They also don't have a nanny state nor a league which has been old enough (don't forget the Bundesliga didn't get formed until 1963) for old decrepit stadia the likes of Illsborough (which is still a death trap IMO) or dare I say it, our old Lady Saltergate!

I would say that statement is a misleading. Reading that one would think that their football and stadiums had to be built from ground zero in 1963. But of course Eintracht. Frankfurt were European Cup finalists in 1960 and West Germany won the World Cup in 1954. A quick bit of research confirms that EF's was first opened in 1925,

However the Germans have regularly rebuilt their stadiums, in the 1950s (presumably Bomber Command may have had something to do with that) and again more recently for the hosting of the World Cup.

Are you implying that Bomber Harris, albeit inadvertently, laid the ground work for revitalising German football? Bit of a pity that our own authorities didn't act similarly after Hartlepool's ground was hit by the Luftwaffe.

No, not really. Just pointing out that I don't see the connection between the formation of the Budeslegia as late as 1963 and the state of their stadiums.

Mind, one of the most modern stadiums in the 1950s was Old Trafford, which had been rebuilt as a result of bombing by the Luftwaffe.
