Was a shock this morning when I saw the front pages of the Sun and the Mirror - Mirror. Considering the story the other day was of him joining some non-league team, he clearly is in no state to kick a ball around - he looks in his late 60s, not 40s. I'm not sure I would let him near any team in any capacity.

What a sad, sad state of affairs! Truly horrifying to watch someone self-destruct like that, and I'm sure everyone would wish he could find the help he so clearly needs, and for some time.

As horrible as it is to see, what more help can he have without handcuffing him to his bedpost? He's been in rehab something like 8 times. This problem is rooted so far within him I don't think anyone will ever be able to rip it out before he's inevitably claimed by it. Such a shame.

Could be so my good sir, his "luck" (I use that word incredibly lightly) has to run out at some point.

Harry Redknapp's offer of a job may be well intentioned but seems ludicrous.

In some respects, it might be the best thing for him. Can't be the best quality of life can it? Fingers crossed that he gets himself sorted though.. The man was my footballing hero as a kid!

When I was a kid playing football and we'd pick who we were gonna be in the park I wanted to be gazza.

Sadly, I think he's too far gone, he can't even save himself now. His problems with alcohol are too severely ingrained in his psyche.

What is it they say about genius and complete madness?

One of my heroes growing up. Very sad and I agree, he won't see 50.

The crowd that surrounded him when he was in his peak don't see to be doing much these days? Quick enough to bleed him dry at the time though!

Problem is that if his mood shoots up or crashes down with the bipolar he's never going to avoid the booze and the alcoholism gets a hold again.

He'll sadly never recover enough to live much of a life

Same here love gazza, he needs to be employed by the fa to visit grassroots clubs and talk about addictions etc give him something to focus on and make it with kids who are not at academies etc but are from a broader spectrum of society.

Sadly it's just a matter of time before he kills himself with his addictions

Agree. The man needs bringing in to the fold. The most talented Englishman of all time without a shadow of a doubt.

Sadly no kids under 14 will have heard of him (or care)
