Swindon Town want international call-ups to postpone games

Swindon manager Mark Cooper is hoping Yaser Kasim receives an international call-up for Iraq so that Town's game with Chesterfield is postponed.
Robins duo Massimo Luongo and Brad Smith have already been named in the 20-man Australia squad for games with Belgium and Saudi Arabia in September.
Town can appeal for a postponement of their game on 6 September if a third player is called up.
"We're praying Iraq call Yaser up so we can get the game off," said Cooper.

I'm due to miss that one as my son is getting married so a postponement would be welcome

I know at least six London Spireites who have already forked out for train tickets for this one.

Cooper said himself they knew the rules when they signed them!' So no way should the game be off, although from a personal point of view I wouldn't mind it being off as I'm away that weekend!

There are rules where games are automatically postponed if a certain number, must be 3, are called up.

Hold on a minute: Irish scouts were at the Proact on Tuesday, so there's a possibility O'Shea, Ryan and/or Doyle might get a call-up. Then of course Morsy's terrific form may attract interest from Egypt.

If we continue making progress losing players to international sides might become something we'll have to contend with, too.

Don't want a third consecutive Saturday without a home game.

Six of our starting 11 on Tuesday are eligible to play for countries outside England, with 2 more sat on the bench.

I recall us playing at Notts County a few years ago and we had 3 Englishmen in our starting XI.

He meets the criteria to play for Ireland in that he's not Irish

Why on earth are Iraq playing international football when their people are being murdered in their thousands and their capital could be days away from falling?

Why not. it is probably pleasant distraction and about the only thing to get enthusiastic about.

However, it disappointing that it is interfering with my Saturday afternoon
