Just to clarify.

I've nowt against Doyle and reckon his tireless running is a valuable option.

But I just don't think he has the quality to turn tight games, against organised L1 outfits such as MK, in our favour.

What's more he clearly lacks physicality and struggles to win and/or hold the ball under pressure.

These aren't "digs", it's just telling the truth.

And nobody will be happier than me if he scores a hat-trick on Sat'di to rub my nose in these comments.

Exactly where I am
A new hope.

doubt it unless half a dozen are penalties

So when totalising Doyle goals, penalties don't count?

Now how surprised am I (not)

eh?

He wont score 20 goals from open play, so to reach that total he will need a lot of penalties.

Marc Richards scored a fair number of goals from the penalty spot for Port Vale and these were added in when he was proclaimed to be a 20 goal a season striker.

Doyle currently has 2 from open play and 2 from the spot - if this then becomes 10 + 10 are you saying the answer isn't 20?

If the answer is 20 then Doyle becomes a 20 goal a season striker under the Richards ruling.

Didnt RPL declare that Whitakers goal scoring contribution a few years ago when we won league 2 wasnt that great as most of them were penalties? Still need to be scored.

That was exactly my point but I didn't want to open that debate again by using the 'R' word
