We've got no option but to play Sam Clucas at left back-6 goals conceded in a week all from left sided crosses (I could be wrong on that stat, but certainly the majority have been)

It's becoming clear that Sam's not had much defensive coaching drilled into him in the past.

First goal in my opinion was his fault. He should have been in a covering position to guard against Humphreys being beaten on the outside but he stood on the wrong side.
Similarly, PC implied that Sam was out of position for Scunthorpe's goal t'other week - in that case he should have been pressing McSheff, who was allowed practice match space to pick out a clever pass. The formula is simple. If Humphreys plays, he needs defensive help. One solution would have been to switch Boco and Clucas round. Boco knows his job defensively.

Playing Sam at LB would actually help him no end to make him an even better player. He has a delightful simplicity and intelligence to his game that could see him playing at a higher level.

Teams will play on Humphreys' chronic lack of pace and Clucas will spend the game covering him so he may as well start there. He will have the legs to get forward as well. Nowt to lose in the circumstances in my opinion.
