we dont want to start trying things that we are not comfortanble with, look what happens when we go 4 5 1, we have to stick to what we know....but get in good ingredients to deliver....especially the bread, spend what it takes....you are only as good a syour bread and using wholemeal is not ambitious....we need granary or seeded batch, best from Morrisons. The agent on the bakery doesnt ask for a top up fee but he would be worth it....

You've got to give me more reasons than that to shop at Morrisons, I prefer Tesco's because I can drive past the ground. Does this mean by posting I'm sadder than I thought I was?

we are now on the second page -- give it time

apparently Shez fancied a bit of toast last night but they didnt have wholemeal, only value bread. He said he wouldn't buy just any bread.

I say no to croissants, no to bagels we must develop our own bread products or face a future where our breakfast table no longer has a place for white sliced toast and marmalade. :angry

Corned beef on wholemeal cob with home made chutney.
Home grown tomato.
2 plums and a conference pear.
One mug of Nescafe with semi skimmed milk, no sugar

Conference? That's where you and the club will be in 2 years in you don't rethink your fruit strategy....you are going for cheap options because you won't pay a premium for exotic fruit....

We need to look further afield and not just at Tescos because we know it, we wont get good sandwiches if we only go looking at places we have used before, we need to look further afield and pay a bit more if needed. Morrisons have a great bread development section. There may be a fee but ist worth it.

And you need specialist bread for toast. no good buying a loaf expecting it to make good toast if you bought it to be a sandwich. We have tried that before but when you use bread out of position its a sign of a board not backing the manager or a manager not knowing what he is doing.

Ask geoff to ask Shez what bread he uses and where he gets it from. Get DA on here to talk about the bread budget.....

The thing is......although we are looking to bring in the bread, we have a bread maker at the club already......The Dave Bentley home made baker I think it's called.......our fans though seem to prefer shop bought bread or cobs.....and heap too much pressure on Dave's home baked ones at such a young age when the yeast has barely risen.......This often results in the bread going stale and our supporters booing the bread. Shameful behaviour....... Let's get behind our home made loafs and see if they can rise to the challenge.

It's all in the kneeding if you don't do that right then its just full of hot air a bit like RPL42!!!

I do feel that this thread is failing to take into account the role of cakes and pastries in the wider scheme of things. The effect of a well placed éclair or Victoria sponge should never be underestimated, in my opinion.

But surely we should be told what goes into the bread, it's an insult to the bread buying customers who are being kept in the dark.

IMO the introduction of a Victoria sponge should be kept out of the debate. I hope JS doesn't think of including this in his line up of bread choices. If you need to bring something else in, it needs to be of a stronger substance, something that could hold the back four up. I'd go with a scone, perhaps a splashing of jam but definitely with a good coating of cream. A scone is a better choice than some of the currant idea's.

I see your point and there are times when a Victoria sponge just will not suit the occasion, sometimes only a decent slice of fruit cake or malt loaf is the only option that truly hit’s the mark. Fortunately there are times a slice of Victoria sponge, fairy cake or just a light macaroon are the right dessert at the right time, of course only when accompanied by a good cup of tea.

Tesco and Morrisons, like all agents, are trying to get the best deal for themselves and not their products. I think the club should stick to its policy of not paying fees to the large stores but instead should buy its own breadmaker.

But we already have the Dave Bentley bread and loaf production line. A lot of times when Shez has picked any of Bentley's breads in his starting elevenses it gets booed, and our fans don't think it's good enough when in direct comparison to more established breads like Hovis!

Come on fellow spireites, don’t tell me you have given up so easily we are only on post 33 it will take a concerted effort to keep this going, so its “noses to the wheel” and “shoulders to the grindstone” and lets get this mossy stone rolling.

This one always gets a bite! :P

B****y supporters can’t even tell how many are in the stadium without accusing the club of miscalculating the figures. :angry

Or this one! :P

B****y supporters, no wonder players wont come here they can’t even keep a nonsense post going for any length of time, never mind always getting on the players backs. :angry

I blame the “doom and gloom” merchants of this board for not supporting this thread, how can they call themselves “real” supporters when all they do is moan about “oh typing hurts my fingers” or “this thread should have been started in June”, bah when the revolution comes they will be the first against the wall.

Not my picture Dave but I wish I could play the guitar like him!

However I consider your comment a challenge and as it's lunchtime and it's chucking it down here in Northampton, limiting my usual trip to Sainsburys for a sandwich.....

The bog standard Sainsburys toilet roll has 240 sheets.

One page of a thread on my computer screen (an RPL thread obviously) covers 24 sheets.

Therefore I conclude that a thread running to 10 pages could be printed on to a standard toilet roll....

and many of them ought to be
