Went to Sicily next to the St Helens pub tonight and it was very good. Picked it due to the reviews I'd read on TripAdvisor which were nearly all positive and I can see why. Good service and really reasonably priced too. Every table was full and booking well in advance for weekend nights is a must as it's not that big. All the usual Italian dishes with some interesting twists here and there and a few chefs specials...we will be going back!

Been there a few times and always enjoyed it, not a surprise they won restaurant of the year in the Destination Chesterfield awards a couple of years ago.

Been to the now re-opened Ashford Arms for lunch today. Thought it was really good, albeit not cheap. Had a full refurb and looks like it’ll be a great place in the summer as loads of outdoor seating too.

Was a 4 course set menu for Mothers Day, but a fair bit of choice for each course. Not sure what their normal menu is going to be like

Sure i read somewhere its had Ł1.6m spent on it to refurb it so hopefully they can make it work. Cracking little spot there.

I went to the ground yesterday to (prematurely) celebrate winning the league, ended up going to the fair instead but didn’t fancy any of the food so went to the Batch House for some decent nosh.

Cheese burger, fries and dips very acceptable and an Italian Pizza not too bad either and a couple of nice pints from the bar. I might try the Greek or Peri Peri place next time as they looked pretty decent as well.
Let me in!

Beadnell's a great place to stop and ideal for Seahouses and Bamburgh.

If you're thinking of dining out in Beadnell, don't bother with the Craster Arms, we've been twice now and on both occasions it was a farce. It's disorganised chaos and the food is nothing to write home about. It's our intention to try The Beadnell Bar & Kitchen next time instead.

The Salt Water Cafe is very good for a breakfast and if you're in Bamburgh, The Copper Kettle Tearoom is worth a visit.

Last night up here and we went to the Salt Water Cafe bistro (having already sampled a breakfast) I was very surprised that there was only us and one other table occupied but the food was excellent. Seafood chowder was top notch and the owner Chico is a smashing fella.

As it was within walking distance we tried the Beadnell Towers Kitchen for an evening meal and it was very nice....but very expensive for similar quality food to the SWC. Worth a visit though next time your up here. As is the nearby courtyard cafe for a cake and cuppa!

A fish and chip van is also now open on the green near the shop 4 nights a week and it was really excellent quality so no need to drive into seahouses. We went there for a curry one night but our intended restaurant the Indian Brasserie was full so we ended up in the quite empty spice house, and now I know why it was pretty empty...don't bother it was very very ordinary!!!

In my opinion the best quality and value food up here is still the White Swan at Warrenford/Lucker. It's definitely worth the 20 minutes drive and has a great menu.

Loaded up the coolbox with fresh crab and bamburgh bangers. Chesterfield here we come...

Whilst out in town to put a bet on the national, i went into davids fresh bake, what a rip off. Ł5.25 for a manky dry sausage roll and a few manky dry chips, should have gone to the derby road deli, much better quality and bigger portions. It really is a struggle to find a decent bakery now, that's what i miss about up the north east, thomas the bakers from yorkshire are the business

Im from that area and had never heard of it, sounds good. Mind the east durham/wearside coast is very under-rated

Sorry I've only just seen this.

Glad to hear that you enjoyed the Salt Water Cafe. We do intend on trying the Beadnell Towers, probably either on a Friday or Saturday night because as I said, our last two visits to The Craster Arms were chaos!

We've seen the fish and chip van before and not had the confidence to try it, but we will give it a go now and we will look up the White Swan, thanks.

Out of interest, did you try The Landing?

More than decent as it turns out, thoroughly recommend it. Service a little bit slow, but we were a party of 11...
