Why not use Philip Hammond as a figure of fun, our esteemed chancellor, who when asked how much HS2 would cost, said £32 billion when in fact the figure was £52 billion? Is not an error of £20 billion worth ridicule or is it not as funny as a black woman making a mistake?
Every major construction project ALWAYS goes over the initial estimate. It's not a mistake or a lie. It's what it is. If you give a figure, in say the year 2010 for 30 billion, by the time the project is completed in say, 2030, the final amount could be well over the original. The new London tube line, well over its budget, is a case in point. It's basic economics taking into account inflation and other circumstances. It is wrong to call it a lie because no-one knows how much huge infrastructure project will cost, they can only estimate.
Dianne Abbot needs protecting from the media. It's cruel and embarrassing for her and those that watch. It's obvious she is not always on the top of her brief, is easily flustered, loses her train of thought and says the wrong things. I get the impression she believes she can hack it but she can't. Her appearance on LBC's Nick Ferrari was cringe worthy. I was listening that morning in bed and crawled back under the duvet. I felt sorry for her.
It has nothing to do with racism or, for that matter, party politics.
