Certainly wouldn't mind Boden back, but didn't Sheridan say in an interview last week that the two players who'd agreed deals and were sorting out leaving their current clubs were League players?

Yes that what he implied

I’d be extremely surprised if Shezza was looking at bang average players in non league to sign up....especially with a nice budget to spend!!
You’d think it would be players further up the ladder, 1 year contract & bumper wage in our situation!

But hey we could be surprised!!! 🤞

Why not sign players with some sort of get out clause of you go down and maybe add offer of a bonus if you stay up.

My guess is he's been blown out by Reid, unsurprisingly, and is now after Boden

I like Boden he works hard and has an affinity for the club but he doesn't have a prolific goal scoring record - he's currently 10= in the National league top scorers with a goal every 234 minutes of play

https://www.bbc.co.u...gue/top-scorers

Ruben Reid hasnt got a prolific scoring record either - similar to Boden about a goal every 4 games played (429/118)

If Shezza has been given an open cheque book then he should make good use of it - or we will be getting relegated again.

I'd like to think we could do better...but...
Boden is a Fox in the box type, so probably work well for us

What type of 'prolific striker' do you think any club is willing to let go, mid-season?

I doubt we'd get any from this league (and certainly not from above) so you're left looking at the leagues below, so that means another Ugwu/Denton/Shaw type player.

here are also some, like Alessandro, who are approaching 30 and have reached the end of their league shelf life. He is technically and tactically good, but no pace- this league would be a natural place now.
Get it on, bang the gong , get it on

A young loan from a Prem or Champ club.

A third choice from league 1 who hates being on the bench/not involved

League 2 second choice striker/ bottom half L2

I'm sure they could find someone who would be better then our level in there somewhere willing to drop down to play regular -
Cash insensitive to stay up / release clause if relegated / chance of regular football / offer of improved contract if stay up.

Surely they could snare a striker offering certain terms and conditions

But that would mean spending more money on wages, given that signings so far have been slow, OK non existant for shez, maybe DA's commitment to the cause isn't as strong as he would have us believe?
all we are saying, is give us ...a goal, or 2+

I agree, yours are valid suggestions for where were likely to be shopping, but the point was, SpireiTed was quesitoning Boden's striker rate and suggested we needed someone with a better striker rate?

Not sure how any of your suggestions would give us that?

It's off until the summer according to Andy Giddings.
Life goes on. Whatever happens.

Understand #chesterfieldfc attempts to sign Scott Boden are currently off. The two clubs have so far failed to reach an agreement over a transfer fee. Hearing the Spireites could go back in for Boden in the summer now.

Shows what i know about football if we are pinning hopes on Scott Boden (no disrespect to the lad) being a goalscoring saviour.

In shezza we trust - got to trust his judgement & have faith

There has to be a balance between what we want, what we can actually get and who is actually available in a January transfer window though. I'm sure we can all reel off a list of names that would be good signings but whether they are realistic is another matter. There is also that point that a manager is likely to go for folk he knows and is aware of what they can do.
