just seen they are to reunite. makes you wonder how many more majors murray would have won if this split would not have occurred. seemed a strange one at the time, lendl never won Wimbledon but he was a driven winner,

Have to say watching Murray v Krygios yesterday, I've never seen such a display of petulance and 'losing it' as I saw from the Australian. Murray a picture of composure by comparison

Kyrgios is the kind of sportsman that really annoys me....all the talent in the world but just tosses it off in a huff when things go against him. He gave Murray a good test until losing that first set then spat the dummy.

It's an insult to the many less talented but work their socks off players that would give their back teeth to play Murray on centre court in a Wimbledon 4th round match!

Murray - easiest the best British player ever and this may be an unpopular view but ive nothing but admiration for the bloke. From a weedy 18 year old, he's worked like mad to reach maximise his talents and compete alongside players who are the best ever seen (Federer, Nadal, Djokovik)
When Murray retires, I think it will be a very long time until we see a British player who is anywhere close to him.

I really like Murray and if we're honest a bucket load of Murray haters do so off the back of the way the media reported that conversation he had with Henman about how he would support anyone who was playing england at a world cup. Media made a fuss of it not reporting the whole conversation and many fell for it. There is also those who say he has no personality which is just bizarre and again probably wrong.

In terms of the way he has gone about his career its the exact opposite of Kyrgios who he beat the other day and the Aussie could do a lot worse than study how Murray has gone about it. Worked to the bone to maximise his potential and then reaped the rewards of it. Will be interesting to see how he handles the pressure of being Wimbledon favourite as well as the burden of being the home player but the way he played the 5th set out last night suggests he has the bottle to do it. Hope he goes on to win it!!

He wasnt misquoted but it was reported out of context completely missing out all the stuff prior to that with Henman taking the mick out of Scotland not qualifying etc and Murrays response was a jibe in return to all that. The english media just concentrated on that one quote making it sound like something it wasnt.

I actually read a piece by journalist Des Kelly, who was the man that Murray made the "anybody but England" quote to, and Kelly made it quite clear is was said in a laughing and jokey manner and wasn't meant to be taken seriously.
Just to add to the OP question regarding Murray winning majors if Lendl had stays his coach, I think he would certainly have added at least a couple more. Murrays problem seems to be his head drops quite easily v ND where's Lendl manages to keep him so focused and motivated.

Pity him and Lendl had the split, otherwise he'd had won loads more. A perfect fit.

Talking of a weedy 18 yr old I recall when Murray first made an impact at Wimbledon

Prior to playing Nadal he was asked in an interview if he had just come in from an early morning run in his preperation for the match

He just dismissed the question with a withering look and words like I do not need to do early morning runs I just play tennis

Nadal duly blew him away and it was men against boys

Someone must have then had a word in his ear that he either had to man up and start doing the hard yards or continue to fall behind the really top players

Credit to him he started to work hard to match his talent and is now world no 1

Not sure how much of an effect it as as well but he survived the Dunblane massacre, I don't think he likes to talk about it, understandably.

Looks like his injury just caught up with him at the end. Even so, could still have won it in 3 sets.

As mentioned not really a surprise as he's been struggling for a while now. Sad end to a brilliant career, up there with the best sports people Britain has produced.

just watched the djokovic semi final win against the young canadian player, have to say what an awesome player ND is, everything that was thrown at him today he just has the answer, so calm in the big moments, can see him surpassing all who have gone before him in terms of titles. just an absolute champion.
