Yep, wound me up that one.

Not as bad as Crouch trying to defend the indefensible.I'm now waiting for the Iceland advert where Joe Hart walks out of the shop and spills his shopping all over the floor.Eddie Howe for me why not he couldn't do any worse than Hodgson

He was my choice before Roy got it but many on here said it would be a stupid appointment; stating that he only had success when he spent shed loads of money......that'll be like virtually every other manager then. He was a good manager who got the best out of his players; the FA wanted an English guy too...so they gave it to Roy instead.

Would be like an open cheque for him he can pick who he wants, got to be worth a try with what's out there. I would like Eddie Howe in charge but I wouldn't want to see the lad ruined by the job either, whether he would get or take the offer I doubt either.

It needs a young fresh enthusiastic manager...someone who will instill a pride in their game get them playing fast flowing football....someone like bilic.....it won't be him but someone in the klop/bilic mould ....get them playing with a smile on their faces and enjoy what they do......time to try a unproven young man?
all we are saying, is give us ...a goal, or 2+

Not one viable English/British manager option so we have to move on from this thinking the England manager has to be English/British which is what landed us with hodgson last time around. If the best options are people mentioning redknapp, Southgate, Pardew then we're screwed.

Some of the names being bandied about on here are outrageous. What is it about England that makes people lose their minds when discussing them?

No mate, it's true; our system and style of football has changed since the premier league started, loads of foreign players and foreign managers. The Iceland team play a solid 442 and employ old school tactics which we are not used to playing against.

Ps it's not an excuse, we should easily be able to deal with long throw ins...

The point is Iceland were probably unlucky not to score four. Hart knew little about the one from close in that hit him and he actually pulled off a decent save from another effort.

Can't remember their keeper being tested - I missed our penalty by the way.

Colonel Saunders would do a better job than him. One sells chicken the other is chicken.

Laurent Blanc is a great shout. However with a €22mill pay off I can't imagine he's in a rush for a job with a poisioned chalice!

Hoddle is a moron. He commented that Iceland's football is stuck in the 80's ( referring to the long throw in's they utilise ) and that our ( multi millionaire ) Premier League 'stars' are not used to dealing with such a threat as they don't encounter it in the best league in the world. There's no wonder everyone likes to see us fail when we have pundits spouting arrogant garbage like that.

Hoddle with Uncle Harry as his number 2 being promoted by the Talk Sport Cosa Nostra this am! Takes me back to what I said last night on an associated thread. The media already promoting their cronies. Hoddle and Harry--- NO, NO, NO!!! Let's have a relative unknown with all to prove who will give massive kicks up deserving backsides. Sean Dyche for me, but I'm not biased!

If Redknapp is being considered then we aren't learning from previous mistakes...absolute dinosaur in football terms that's done nothing but ruin clubs financially in recent years. We need to move away from this hang up that the national team manager has to be English, they don't when there are no viable English candidates.

Quite a few refs wouldn't have given that one as well, especially so early on in a game. We got a right pasting tbh.
