What about Rio? Is that a silly suggestion.

No experience whatsoever, and remember his sulky attitude over the John Terry affair. Total prat.

shearer did have the run in with Newcastle other year & was inept.

Benitez failed with them this time aswell.
Shearer got just as much time as him.
Benitez is a very good and very experienced manager.

Personally I would love a young manager like Eddie Howe to get it. Yes I know he lacks international experience but from what I see the ones that have it don`t do a very good job. Unfortunately, I think he`s too intelligent to take it if it was offered.

I notice today they asked Bobby Charlton how he thought the England team of 1966 would have got on against Iceland the other night. He said, "I think we would have won 1-0", "only 1-0 against Iceland?" came the response, to which Sir Bobby said "yes but you have to realise most of the team are now well into their 70s".

So Unai Emery gone to PSG ...That's him out the question

Hows about Marcelo Bielsa ?? seriously would crucify the " egos " the overpaid under achievers who currently wear the 3 Lions

Madder than Mick McMad but a flipping( I mean flipping , Michelle ) terrific coach

The man I wanted to succeed Allardyce at WHU ( if Bilic hadn't been selected )

Better than most managers suggested in here so far. Shame about Emery.

I'm not at all bothered about experience. Where did that get us with Hodgson?

On the subject of new managers, I see Southampton's Executive director, Les Reed says of Puel's appointment there ' Claude clealy came out top of a very impressive shortlist. He will meet our needs as a club, while taking account of our culture, vision and values'.

If Reed's choice is a good as those of Pochettino and Koeman, he will have proven the importance of having a pathway formed by the club, not each and every manager who comes along.

About the opposite of the line we followed with the appointment of the Welsh wonder.

Les Reed is a very very wise man in football terms.
His Dad still does FA coach ed in London (and he is in his 80's).

Me too. But I can't see any manager achieving success with England when many players have, to quote a favourite phrase on here, the heart of a pea.

I don't think there's anybody standout that is available

Probably going to be Southgate as 'interim' until somebody does, then he'll win his first four games and he'll get it until 2018.

Giving the job to tried and tested managers clearly hasn't worked for the FA since 1966, I say give it to someone who has had success with not a lot of resources and has great passion and enthusiasm such as Eddie Howe or Shaun Dyche - it can't be any worse than we're used to.
