I have experienced TUPE, not a pleasant experience but better than nothing.
Strange if he turned up on Monday as the head groundsman

Well Ant raised the cash both for m/c's and frost covers but for use at the club so not sure how that stands.Point being if the job is being outsourced surely they should have their own tackle.

What would be the approximate cost of the work that Premier Pitches have been contracted to do this summer, is it considerable?
Was it done last summer?

I believe Prem Pitches have done the annual pitch refurbishment each year since we have been at the Proact. That is their business going around grounds "assisting" clubs staff, not sure if they are equipped to do day to day maintenance.

Any idea of their fees for an annual refurbishment?

I guess it comes down to who bought the machines and covers?
If they were purchased by the club, and the money raised donated, then the club obviously own them.
However, if Ant bought the items and can prove it, he will have claim to their ownership surely?

No idea mate.Don't know if club supply the materials or PP do.Obviously PP supply labour and machinery. But PP do pitches all over the country and into Europe so it must be a decent sized business.

Is that gardening leave supposed to be for a colsultation period?
If so that should be used to see if there is any alternative plans that would save the job/role. If the role has already been outsourced to an outside firm then that would rather show they had made their mind up ahead of time.
I'm not sure if that would stand them in good stead at any kind of tribunal. Haven't they fallen foul of those tribunals before?
And as other people have said there should also be some sort of tupe or redundancy option that would be the up to ant to choose the option there.
But the club doesn't make mistakes. Does it?

Getting rid...sorry, making long term CFC staff redundant (such as Gary Cook, for example. Y'know, the bloke who delivered nearly half a million pounds worth of profit before being replaced) has cost the Club a significant amount over recent times.
But hey, losses are all the fault of Chesterfield folk for not turning up in sufficient numbers...aren't they?

No doubt they'll have some sort of reason for their actions but surely the correct one would have been to call Ant in to cut the pitch, after all he is still being paid while on gardening leave. But using PP guys to do it the club has shown it's hand right in the middle of the consultation.

You're forgetting one thing. The club want the job doing for next to nowt so anybody coming in are hardly to hire the incumbent who the club can no longer afford. Was dining at the club today and to be honest looking down at the pitch it wasn't looking great colourwise. Noticed it was being cut and it didn't look like Ant.

35k was quoted a couple of seasons ago when the club announced the price increase for playing on the pitch.

According to a guy I know who works for the firm that supplies the fibre/sand material, the pitch base is sampled and analysed.Advice is then given to what mixture should be used in refurbishing the pitch. This can vary from year to year and therefore the costs will vary.

If CT denied having knowledge of this before the groundsman was informed, who would have signed the official letter announcing the "consultation"?
