Poor competition to start with and made worse by adding reserve sides.
Will not be paying to watch it under this new structure. Should be boycotted by all league club supporters.

Now the plan is for it to be under 23's instead of U21's with up to 4 over age players allowed, seems very much like B teams to me

They say the change is because the U21 league has changed to this, so why not carry on and play just each other ffs !

Drawn group games to go to penalties with an extra point for the winner, seems like sneaking in a change not voted for

Sounds like they are trying to reintroduce reserve teams but have them playing competitive games. Sadly I see people warming to this

Apparently there's been a leak of some of the details of the EFL Trophy, so cant confirm this. It says that the 3 games in the group stages are on W/C Aug. 29th, Oct 3rd, and Nov 7th.

No more north & south after 3rd round and two legged semi final (former area final) penalty shootouts after a draw with a point for the winners, appears no clause about having to field majority of players from last first team game, still no word of the invited teams

I saw Stoke mentioned on the Supporters Direct Facebook page.

I will be boycotting this competition now purely for the reason of the introduction of higher league B teams. It's an absolute disgrace and the thin end of a wedge that could ruin football forever at our level.
Our beloved owner and minion need questioning on why we voted for this, and why our fan base wern't consulted.

Still no news of a sponsor unless you class the Premiership as one.

The abortion of a competition could be a hard sell

Fully agree, even if the majority were in agreement he should have voted against on principle or abstained.

Another bugbear is a point for winning a penalty shoot out, wrong on principle within a mini league structure and a joke when you consider the low stakes.

Also heard but not seen it confirmed that the extra prize money is just for winning the trophy, great when a B team wins it.

Incredible that clubs representatives didn't ask for the details before voting, I suspect the years trial may end up killing the trophy altogether

I can only see me being tempted if it gets a new ground in.
But taking time off work to get to this, nope I don't think so.

Anything been mentioned about where these teams would play their games? If you drew man city for example the difference between playing at their mini-had or the etihad would impact on how many fans went...

No one from the lower league side should go if they realise what it could lead to.

From the link above:

Quote

The invited club will play one game at home and this will be at the first team ground of the chosen team. Each team meanwhile will play each other once either home or away.

We're weeks before the season starts. How can this not all be clear?

I would hope that no fans from the lower league teams would go, this is a step too far.

They are very clever... Principles will go out of the window for a couple of thousand town fans if we get man Utd at old Trafford

NO Spireite should attend any JPT game next season. Absolutely none. There is no excuse.
