Fixtures are out so time for next season's thread.

Two more T20s at Queens Park, Northants and Yorkshire with a four day game against the former wedged in between.

Also one that stood out is a trip to Welbeck Colliery to play Notts in the Royal London Cup. Could be fun.

Yorkshire T20 on the park is the day after my 40th and for once we are actually not in France for the Chesterfield festival as we're going later this year...suspect i may head along!

Welbeck's new(ish) ground at Sookholme is excellent- there are no stands though, but a nice grass bank to sit on

Wayne Madsen steps down as 4-day captain in favour of Billy Godleman.

Derbyshire usually at least wait until the season starts before the turmoil kicks in - this is a new one.

worst thing about that is that it means Godawfulman plays every game

I would rather play a young opener from the Derbyshire leagues than one of the statistically worse batsmen in first class cricket

To be fair to Godleman he's massively improved and would expect him to average 40+ this season.

You cant really criticise how Godleman did last year and you have to stand by him on that count....late developer perhaps and its not like theer are youngsters queuing up to take the place instead of him. They gave Borrington loads of chances and he did nowt, Slater has done ok but nothing else so who else is he keeping out of the team?

If Madsen hadnt just signed a new 4 year contract I would have said that would mean he would be moving on as the rumours every year seemed to indicate but

now I am not so sure. A very strange move at this time though even for Derbyshire

He signed a 3yr deal not 4 but as you say it would be strange for him to move on after signing it. Its a strange one as Madsen seems to say after discussing it with Welch he feels the best way to support the coaches and players is not to captain!!

Can you name a young Derbyshire specialist batsmen I'd be grateful. Last season the 2nd team often played with no more than one or two specialist batsmen and they weren't youngsters unless you're Chesney in the Category

Over a 1000 runs and an average of almost 45, not good enough? you are too needy i'm afraid

Another question what was the last home grown talent to top 1000 runs?

Good decision by Wayne. Billy is the only logical choice.

Any views on the new wheels?

Is it Carter?
