I see from Twittersphere that AC has said the ball is in Sheff U's court on the signing of David Brooks. Could it be that the deal isn't in the bag as we were led to believe? Has Sheff U clocked that they have a talent they themselves want to use this coming season?

Where have you seen that? Graham from the DT was tweeting earlier that the club have no concerns that he wont be joining us.

#Spireites close to finalising deal with physio. Offers in with a couple of players. Club unconcerned over Brooks deal, 100% sure he'll come

As for the Blunts you'd think they'd be fairly clued up on a player they've had for years already before he went to the Toulon tournament. If they wanted to loan him elsewhere or use him themselves they wouldnt have signed up to him joining us as part of the Evans deal.

I guess Brooks now has a value to the Blades after being Player of the Toulon Tournament- before that he would have been just another young lad which the Blades were willing to loan to us as part of the whole sordid Evans deal.

My guess is that Town, incompetent as they currently are, did not get the Brooks deal sealed in writing and that he will be off elsewhere for a loan fee that we would be unwilling to pay, but I hope I am wrong.
These go to eleven.

If I were Sheffield united I would have made sure nothing was signed until after the Toulon tournament.

Another case of the club over promising and under delivering?
Why oh why didn't they come out and say from the start 'the Brooks deal has yet to be signed off and there is many a slip between cup and lip,? That statement (above) now appears a long way off being 'unconcerned' and '100% sure he will come'

Surely this should have been a contractual clause written into the deal for Evans! Could this have been effed up by AC and Co. by not having a binding agreement in place??? Surely they are not that naive??!!

Sure the quote at the time was that as part of the deal Sheff Utd had agreed to loan us Brooks....now how binding that agreement is i've no idea. From here about the Evans deal it says :-

As part of the transfer David Brooks, the talented young United midfielder, will join Chesterfield on a season-long loan as they prepare for life in League Two. "I am in advanced talks with Sheffield United regarding Ched Evans," Carson said. "We're expecting early next week to complete [the deal]. As part of the deal Kevin McCabe has agreed we can loan David Brooks on a season loan. I spoke to David last night and he is very happy."

If Brooks doesnt come then you would think that United would have to compensate us further in some way as part of the initial deal. I suspect the "waiting on SUFC" comment is down to them saying when he is able to join us. They may want him back in with them for pre-season initially to check on him prior to finalising the deal so its not a case of if its going ahead but when its allowed to be official.

So we sell our ex international striker back for a heroes homecoming to them for a pittance without having a make wright in the deal signed and sealed? I smell another major eff up!

It's almost like (if he doesn't come) that the people in charge of the day to day running of a professional football club.....are unaware of how to run a professional football club.

Ashley needs to explain what he means by 'waiting on SUFC'.

Talk about being guilty before proven innocent.

Don't you think we should wait to see what actually pans out before criticising?

Maybe he means waiting for the club to agree to announce it rather than the two clubs agreeing on the actual loaning of him

Maybe I was a little hasty with my retort. I apologise. Or maybe it's got something to do with how the last few years have panned out for us.......

If it's a done deal I don't understand why we need 'permission' to announce it. It makes no sense.
