Two more arrivals this week, I hear, one from non league and one from a L1 outfit.

Sorry, no names as yet.

However that L1 recruit won't be Drew Talbot as someone from the Barnsley area reckons his return to Town is now off. Apparently Ashley Carson was the driving force behind that deal yet the Manager intervened saying DT wasn't for him.

All the best to the long-term CFC servant but I've gotta say I agree - and does GC deserve a pat-on-the-back for being his own man?

Of course all this is just baseless messageboard tittle-tattle so please treat as such.

Why would AC even consider getting involved in player recruitment or selection?!

Perhaps the non-league one will be from Halifax as GC has been to their last few games.

The league one signing...well I hope it is an attacking player.

What happened to the rumours about Alex Penny? I'm assuming that one is dead now with the number of centre backs we have.
One of the two lads from Halifax?

Donohue and Nolan have got to get their acts together defensively otherwise they won't last long. For that reason I think our greatest priority is 1 or even better 2 defensive midfielders to vie with Dimaio. We have got to get to the upper echelons of the clean sheet table.

Also, I had a little natter to GC at the fans' forum. He thinks he can turn Joe Rowley from a number 10 into a box to box number 8, Coutinho like. When he tries that is another matter.

It seems everybody is happy that we've got the defence sorted out with the signing of Wiseman or whatever his name is. Dream on - this is basically the same defence that was taken to the cleaners by three L2 outfits last season, not to mention being humiliated on a regular basis by standard L1 teams, and without Dan Jones, of course, who was the only one with any kind of pace.
First priority - get the defence solid, otherwise forget attacking options in midfield - they'll be back helping out like the last two seasons.

ok I will ask the obvious question. If we have two new players in the defence and a new goalkeeper or Tommy back behind them, how is it the same defence? Does the team sheet lie lol

I thought we only had 2 players signed up, at present, whose natural position is Centre Back - Evatt and Hird. Maguire is expected to make that 3. So I see room for one or two more - preferably left-footed and dominant in the air.

Maybe he thought it would be good PR to resign Drew and for him to bask in the "Glory"

Just a thought...

I am assuming Wiseman will play right side of a back 3 and barry/mcginn right wing backs. With evatt, hird & hopefully maguire that's 4 centre backs. Maybe room for 1 more at a push but would have thought priorities would move too other positions for now

We need more than Donohue for left side defence

So 2 new signings and the return of tommy lee is the same defence as last year?

Brilliant piece of court jestering

9/10 on the jesterometer.
A new hope.

Same defence? You truly are an idiot. Why don't you cease posting and save yourself the embarrassment?

Maguire is a left footed defender I believe.
Looks like Wiseman could be a pacy right back so that's covered, but we need a pacy left back now
Jones has gone. Don't think Donahue would be suited for that job as he prefers midfield.

I think he is simply agreeing with me - that the defence includes defensive midfielders and we aint got any, either in CM or wide men like Bocco who understand their defensive duties. Don't really matter who the back 4/5 is.
