Who can you trust in English football. Money talks at all levels! Who is next. Can't mention any names but dodgy raffles should be properly investigated!!!

Newspapers and journalists also need to look hard at themselves. Everyones after the major scoop, gone to far on this and many other occasions. Shame on you.

Sam Allardyce was brought down by his own greed and stupidity. Not the press. They just exposed him.

Why? Did they force allardyce to say what he did?? perhaps £400k helped. Unfortunately money is the only language football speaks now.

Entrapment.... They've got Sam hook line and sinker. Yes he was stupid to open his mouth, but I don't agree with press, to seem so desperate for stories entraping folks, be it in sport or any other walk of life. Gutter press...

I've got no time for the gutter press but Allardyce knew he was doing wrong just thought he would get away with it! Greedy man who has let himself and his country down

What like CEOs taking a commission on player sales when a club us in debt and losing money. Raffle winners that don't exist. Nah that would never happen would it.

Wish the DT would set up a sting using a dodgy looking middle eastern businessman looking for a dodgy deal

Someone we all know would fall for it hook line and sinker

This allegation about commission is oft repeated on here. Is it actually a proven fact or just a rumour that has become an accepted fact on this board?

Allegation suggests wrong doing, IF he is on a % of player sales (or profits?) then its not illegal.

A free press is one of the cornerstones of a free society, and I'm willing to take some 'gutter press' rather than a heavily regulated or state sanctioned media.
One important role of the press is to expose corruption and hold the powerful to account. They've exposed Big Sam for what he was willing to do. Its not like he was on his uppers and desperate for cash
If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

The absolute mind boggling thing is that Sams lawyer and representative were present. These wouldn't have been two bit advisors. Surely a cpl of phone calls or questions asking for relevant info from the reporters could very quickly have raised eyebrows about the whole meeting. This wasn't a lower league CEO or DC being taken in by dubious characters and promises built on sand this was the England manager, and let's not forget it's happened before with Sven.
So here's the way foward, the next time any top manager has a chance of a lucrative deal with Middle Eastern or Asian "businessmen" don't go down the expensive lawyer or advisor route, they're just as greedy as you.. Post a message on bobs board and within 24 hours it will probably have been su used out as being a very dodgy deal, indeed!
Deserves all he gets, arrogant stupidity from him, and his team, that, given its his dream job and the amount of,time he's been in it, borders on absolute lunacy!

The press targetted Allardyce because they suspected he was dodgy and it would appear their suspicions were correct

playing devils advocate:

Is the "gutter press's" digging in to 'X' past/present dodgy dealings much and outing them for being corrupt any different to the hard work some members of this board have done recently to 'out' certain people associated with the club?

discuss...

I believe the "company" or whoever paid the relevant fee hence the boards are still up.
