Is the story about the Falconer correct where the club offered him two free season tickets and free use of the stadium to train his birds. Rather than pay him

Hi Tom, I was asked by John Croot yesterday evening if I could find a few fans to go down to the club this morning to be interviewed and, even though it was very late notice, we managed three in Tim, Alex and Mark.

They are all season ticket holders, or should I say were, and also regular away travellers. I'd like to say a big thank you to all three of them as the BBC kept changing the time that they wanted to conduct the interviews, the last request being at 6.16 am. They knew that the interviews would be brief and I'm also in a bit of bother as Tim and Alex thought that it was BBC Radio who were conducting the interviews!

I guess it shows the passion and dedication of our supporters and how much they care about the game, and Chesterfield FC in particular. Here's hoping that some solutions can be found quickly in order to provide appropriate financial support to help teams survive until fans are allowed to return safely and income streams pick up.

Cheers Paul.

Great effort from all of them, thought they came across really well. I think given the media attention on the club in recent days we now have an opportunity to be a leader ins the discussions with the league and ensure that their is enough pressure on the local and national government to look after the football clubs at this level.

I have seen that National League North have voted 81% in favour of not starting without any support, I feel the NL will vote the opposite way but it looks as though we have an opportunity to lead those discussions either way and I hope Croot and CFC continue to do so.

I listened to one of our local MPs Lee Rowley on Politics Live today and this issue wasnt mentioned but i'd like to think him, Toby Perkins and others are aware and willing to fight out corner.

Think it was in the just before we debuted in non league - probably a load of rubbish but it certainly coincided with the guano mountain in the East Stand

Can anybody confirm that an important meeting is indeed taking place today or have I got the wrong end of the stick?

I thought there'd be some announcement by now.

As it we're playing at Wealdstone as planned.

Ta, I caught the one after 8am, but not that one.

I think I understand the situation now except for the bit where I read a couple of days ago that the NL would not start without fans. Who made the statement and on whose authority?
Clearly it's not summat CFC would buy in to.

The figure of £20M/25M seems to be the figure required to keep steps 5 and 6 ticking over

Looking at the money swilling around in the transfer market that is absolute peppercorn. Even with the Prem bleating about losing £100Ms I reckon they might just be embarrassed enough to take action especially if the government matches their offer.

That statement was always likely to prove rather more bold than necessary.

Wolves paid €30m for a full back just yesterday.

Perhaps there should be a temporary 10% levy on transfer fees. In fact make it 20% if the money is going abroad.

The problem across all leagues, and all sports, with all this get fans back misses the one vital point of how supporters actually safely get there and back. Once in the ground I'm sure social distancing is adequate, even at pie and beer time, but that is not enough - it's the safe transport of getting supporters, in and out, be it 3000 or 30000, or any number in between travelling to and from - public transport, especially at final whistle, would that support train/coach loads of supporters, car travel with mates, will everyone mask up, are you leaving a mate behind if they don't have a mask etc. We've all seen people scrumming to get onto buses around the ground, at the end of game, all been on trains with supporters going to and from other games, let alone town ones, and until a satisfactory solution comes up for that it ain't going to proceed very quickly. Even with 1000 attending, are you staggering time to arrive or leave, who's controlling numbers onto buses, and how do you identify someone who's last bus is at say 5.30pm compared to someone on a regular route - everyone wants to get on way home, or back to their local asap.
Put forward ideas of control for the dispersion of fans after the final whistle and you may stand a chance- but clubs won't want that responsibility, and in the meantime everyone will go on about financial implications and want supporters back asap.

I’ve written off any possibility of there being spectators at games this season.

Waiting for the club now to come up with ways of getting cash in to their coffers.

After the window shuts someone normally tots up the net flow. My gut feeling (and it’s a big one) is the net flow is out as opposed to in, or just circulating.

None of this helps football’s case in the court of public opinion when it comes to the likes of us.

Did Bushell say it cost £36k to remove pigeon poo from the pitch? Rewound it and he did.

No doubt from South Yorkshire!
