One of my fondest memories is that last day escape against them. Funny thing how just scraping out of abject failure can rank as high in a football fans mind as successes like promotion and cup triumphs. We're an odd bunch, or at least I am...

I was at work that day, my then gaffer was a Grimsby fan. He came down to the stock room and said: " looks like it's gonna be good times for us" (Grimsby). My heart sank as I thought we were losing. He told me we was 0-0 but they were 1 up at tranmere.

"It's ok" I said, "Eugene dadi will score and we'll get a last minute winner to stay up."

An hour later he came back down and said he'd just heard an almighty roar from saltergate and the mariners were losing. I ran around that stockroom like we had won the premiership.

I think dadi scored the winner that day.....

Town give us the best (and worst) memories
Here we go again!

they were then, they've had some very poor chairmen though - I remember them banning away supporters and trying to move the club to MK

Horrible little ground though; the away seats have zero legroom and there are more pillars than seats, the rake is very shallow and snap very overpriced, parking is a bitch and there's nowhere near the ground to get a decent pint. Apart from that ........

It's funny though - I can't remember what we did after that game. Presume we went to the pub to celebrate - it seems a lot longer ago that it is!

There was mutual respect last time we played down there.

Their recent 'saviours' including Nick Owen (of Breakfast TV and Sporting Triangles fame) were parading the JPT (or its equivalent) at HT, which they'd won a few days before and they got a very good reception when the carried in front of the Spireites.

Pretty sure they were all-but relegated at that point, after entering Admin to stay in business.

Yeah we relegated them with the 0-0 I think, but the travelling town fans applauded their success in the jpt which they appreciated

One would assume but I really can't remember much after bouncing around the Koop in celebration. Must have been a blooming good night! It really does seem a long time ago!
