Star and Peacock aren't great now imo, Britannia and Victoria ok, Rose and Crown and Tap not bad. There's a micro pub near Morrison's thats ok.

Royal Oak was grim when we went in before Christmas. I think it had re-opening that week but if it's not improved it won't last long.
Tried the Crafty Dog twice last Friday. Top quality selection of beers.

Remember the England game is on while 10pm, so that'll affect the 'atmosphere' in some pubs

Brit is probly the best pub, good beer and plenty of tvs to watch football ect.
Junction in my opionion is the best bar, good atmosphere, and really nice. Dont have tvs so will keep the football crowd out who wre wanting to watch the match.
Then the vic,peacock,rose, tap house, crafty dog are worth a go.
Id stay out of the barrel, anchor and grouse tho. Horrible dirty places.

Them horrible dirty places are probably the places you can go for a beer, have a conversation with the punters and not be judged like some of the other named establishments.

The Barrel isn't dirty as far as I'm aware. Toilets could do with a spruce up maybe but I can do without two kinds of hand lotion and a Dyson Blade when I'm watching the football with a Stella.
