Spireites legend Kevin Davies is returning to Chesterfield in the New Year for an All-Star Events sporting dinner.
Davies, who was a teenage sensation at Chesterfield before playing in the Premier League with Southampton, Blackburn Rovers and Bolton Wanderers, was capped by England in 2010. He will appear at the Proact on Thursday, March 3 (7pm for 7.30pm).

The eagerly-awaited event is being organised jointly between Chesterfield Football Club and the Chesterfield FC Community Trust, which will also see funds raised on the evening for the club's official charity partner, Ashgate Hospicecare.

The night will consist of a three-course meal, Q&A session with Kevin and further entertainment from a top comedian.

Tickets priced at just £35 can be booked by calling Janice Kew on 01246 269300 (ext 4153) or emailing janicekew@chesterfield-fc.co.uk.
Show class, have pride, and display character. If you do, winning takes care of itself.

It may well be him as no other comedians are being interviewed for the role.

Tell him to bring his boots, can't be as bad as the current lot. Can't we keep Saunders as a player upfront, he's probably better there than on the sidelines.

As mad as it seems, Kevin Davies has mentioned on twitter about getting back into training with a view to returning to football soon. Then there's a rumour that pops up that he's due to start training with us next week with a view to gaining a contract........

You say this but Kevin will bring a bit of CFC fabric to the club

I think there is nobody here that really understands the Club, no heart at the moment. Slate Cookie if you a want but he understood the club. KD does there is a real twinkle in his eye when it comes to Town, the affection remains and to have him around would be no bad thing.

He may inspire others around him due to what he has achieved

Likewise....

I might offend a few here, but, 'legend' really? What did he give us, 3-4 seasons? 30 odd goals? Hardly 'legendary' status....IMO of course. I can think of a few other players who are far more deserving....

You mean that twinkle and affection he showed when he last visited the Proact and couldn't even be ar$ed to acknowledge the Town fans?

He's a lifelong blade too isn't he? Don't get me wrong what Kev did for us was fantastic! But I wouldn't class him as part of the CFC infrastructure. Very much a thanks for the memories but nothing overly sentimental. Jack Lester did more for this club over a period of time that KD imo

He was instrumental in the FA Cup run, he was our record transfer fee for years and i would probably say the most successful player to come out of our ranks in the late 90's early 00's? or am i wrong?

Doyle & Johnson for Davies and SEB. PNE have done well out of that trade off.

And he'll probably tell you he's more connected to Sheffield and Nottingham than he is to Chesterfield.
Some people were dead chuffed when lormor came back as kit man, but he's 100% a Newcastle boy.
Not many ex players are part of the infrastructure if you dig deep enough, not lester not lormor and not Davies if you want to be picky enough.
If you do what you always do, you'll get what you always get.
