According to his Twitter!

Confirming that Sam Morsy IS staying at Chesterfield. Only a sizeable bid would have tempted. No new deal, though, so swings & roundabouts.

Staying for this window....but the bit about the contract takes a bit off it. Just means he will probably go in Jan for less or summer for nowt.

Buys us another 3/4 months for the board/management to prove to Morsy that we are serious about Championship football - if our ambitions match his and we go up this season I wonder if we might get another contract out of him.

Guess we've got more chance with Saunders and Turner in his ear for 3/4 months but if I were him I wouldn't be in any rush and look at fixing myself a good deal for next season at another club

Trouble is, if you pay him 6k pw the rest of the team want similar. The wage structure is there for a reason.

The rest of the team are not as good..morsy is an asset if you got him on a 2 year deal on 6k a week it would cost 300k because in the summer you get money for him..sell him next year but get him signed.

The deal they have allegedly offered him would already make him the highest paid player at the club

The rest of the team who we want to keep have all just signed extended contracts so that would suggest they're happy with their deals, Morsy should be offered a bit more but nothing too silly.

Better than any signing we could have made today. The one player I have wanted to keep more than anyone all Summer and we've managed to do it. Yessssss.

Clearly the fact Sam Morsy will remain a Town player until January is positive news.

And fair play to the Chairman for standing by his guns, so to speak, and not accepting a sub-standard offer.

As for the future a great deal can happen between now and the new year.

The way Biggsy 'confirms' it like he is the chairman or manager of the club.
Last week he was on his way to Brighton.....

Great news he's staying- never really looked like he was going thankfully

A great deal that involves him penning a new 5 year contract with us :sunglasses

Your usual misquote when it comes to Biggs. All he said was 'talk of interest from Brighton'. Hardly 'on his way'.

Can Chesterfield fc match the players ambitions though? If we pay him what he wants the club would probably overspend and be short again for squad building and pushing on to the next level. If we don't offer him the money he wants and use the funds to strengthen in Jan, just in case we are serious about a push, he wont be here anyway because his deal will have expired and will be likely to treble what we can offer.

If you match the money he can get in the championship, where would you rather play at town or the championship? It won't be just about money, but ambition to play at the highest level he can
