But then, we are shopping in M&S now and not hunting in the dustbins at the back of Lidl. Harrison was an awful signing and has never really featured, nor was he ever likely to.

Funny you should mention that, I commented to Mrs Spire-Power only the other day that I had never seen owt reduced in Lidl cos of its sell-by date. Their bins must be empty...can someone confirm?

What would his wages be? Young lad, not broken into the first team... I'd expect if he wanted 1st team football and a real chance to kick off his career then he'd be rather flexible on the wages front.

I'd GUESS at 5/6/7k per week given that Cooky said he had a championship contract we couldn't afford

I read it as both. Barnsley werent keen on a loan deal as they have quite a few already and were apparently told a price of £1m to sign him permanently...how true that is i dont know! I suspect Barnsley had a few plans lined up on the back of their cut of the £40m Stones deal but that appears dead so they've had to reassess their spending!!

They must feel Bitter over Stones deal not happening but better for us I suppose. Doubt they will find a £1m buyer for Lavery. Would be worth a loan if his wages are still affordable.

Did he get a new contract (from the former SWFC boss) after playing for us? Maybe his wages are even higher now.

There appears to be some talk that after the deal to Barnsley has fallen through Lavery has been offered to us on loan......few snippets doing the rounds on twitter from not overly reliable sources but i could imagine that if Wednesday are keen to get him out playing that we would be an option they would like. Good spell last year and local to them.

Looks like he did sign a new deal shortly after returning from us....

Assuming 'wrote us off' means saying we threw away our promotion chances, they were absolutely correct.

Correct- and how's that then?

Sean Taylor
For those asking, I'm told there's nothing in the Caolan Lavery to @ChesterfieldFC link #spireites #swfc,

Didn't take long for him to fall down the pecking order

No desperate need now Morsy is staying, O'Neil and Hird can fill in until Talbot gets up to speed.

Hmmmm, we're not going to get the most out of either player by using them at RB... Even with a fit Drew we need another RB surely.

Yeah. They bulk sign young players and loan them out to their feeder clubs (primarily Vitesse in Holland). Not a fan.

"Buy to let", someone on the wireless just called it (Pleat or Warnock, I think).
These go to eleven.

I suppose their markups are so tight that they might as well just throw the food away rather than reduce it. Not good for the environment (and that applies to all supermarkets ), but that's the system we live in.
These go to eleven.

At the moment, i'm happy with the recruitment going into the next few months. Of course it'd have been nice to have brought in another winger, and possibly a left back but i'm pretty pleased.

Main disappointment for me is settling for Drew Talbot as first choice right back. When he inevitably gets another injury, we'll probably settle for a loan to cover the position. O'Neil will be fine their but we're missing a treat not playing him centrally
