It cant mean that....they agreed to pay £850k in two installments and have to abide by that agreement whether they flog him or not. It may remove the chance of forking out for other clauses in the deal bar possibly a sell on but the initial fee has to be paid.

cause they have to pay it. it was just a scenario for a reason other then him not being good enough

He's played in 16 games not 11 and scored 5 times of which 2 were penalties. Therefore 3 goals in open play in 11 starts or 16 games if you are including substitute appearances isn't setting the world alight having left us during a purple patch of scoring a goal a game ratio up to the end of January but even that was drying up. If our forward line had a ratio of 1 goal in at least 4 games in open play some fans would be in upraw but seems that people are now jumping on the back of the board to suggest it was a shocking piece of business but in my opinion it was a great deal for us and nothing has happened since then to suggest otherwise. Armand has 10 goals in 26 league starts for us which is pretty good but that's where stats can deceive because he's played as a substitute 52 times so the figures are completely skewed.

Yes he's had a little bit of success but the fact they are looking to offload says it all. They took a gamble and it's not really working out at a team with ambitions of a return to the premiership and they feel they have better options in this department.

He has not failed at Championship level, not yet at any rate.

It looks like they are planning to recover the £800k+ they are committed to paying us for Doyle from the club that buys him (Preston?). That would sort of balance the books on the Doyle deal, making way for the new striker they have signed.

5 in 16 isn't an awful record... 1 in 3. That would be 15 goals in a season. Don't think we would be complaining at a 15 goal a season striker...

If he goes to a club where someone else takes the penalties his stats might suffer

I'm not convinced he'd be such a good fit for us any more, if we're looking to hit the front players more quickly rather than patient build up, he may not suit this style.
If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

The fact that he hasn't had any success since he left indicates that is was a good piece of business and that his price was inflated beyond what he's actually worth. Had our season collapsed on leaving it would have raised a lot of question marks but again the fact is that the reached the playoffs and couldn't have done any better than that in reality and for all we know, might not have made the playoffs had Doyle still been in the club.

About time people lay off Chris Turner's back. The transfer revenue since he's been at the club has been excellent and we have made substantial profit on a number of dealings to which CT needs to take credit for and the position the club currently stands in.

I wouldn't say he has failed. Scored 5 goals in 15 games.

As for the fee, as Ex3 points out, if Cardiff sell him to Preston for £850k then it suggests his fee we received was the correct market value.
A new hope.

Preston bid £900k which Cardiff rejected, but agree to send him on a season loan. Done us out of a few quid there, provided we've got a sell on added in!

Stevie May currently having medical at PNE after Sheff Wed accepted bid of around £800k.

Doubt they will sign Doyle as well?

Oh, I forgot. We took your manager, assistant and at the time, best player.
We got a bargain and are really enjoying the football and entertainment.
Worked out well for everyone. You seem so enamoured with DS that we did you a favour, right?

Difference is, he's not heard of you but then not many have!

have a good laugh while you can cause it won't be long before a better option comes along, and I can assure you he will be off like a shot. Then who will be laughing

Took our best player at the time??

You're a long way off mate.

You're welcome to the lairy scouser anyway, let him tarnish your clubs name even further. A good manager, but not a man of his word, and his behaviour out of hours is not that of a professional.

Oh, and yes, DS is doing a great job tyvm, we've kept hold of our best player (Even when we had Robo) and signed Championship quality players.

Enjoy your probable success under PC, he'll dump you at the first chance he gets.
