Our old mate Darren Deadman! Reffed Milwall 9 times and they've never lost with him in charge. We optimists will have to rely on the law of averages - he HAS to ref a defeat for them soon.

Don't know what the stats are for us, but rightly or wrongly I just get the cold shivers whenever I see or hear his name. I'm sure there's a statto somewhere who will check for us.

He's a crap ref but he'll be a crap ref for both teams. No biggie. We just need to be better than Millwall.

Having (unusually) a bit of spare time, I've dug out the facts. Over the 9 times we've "enjoyed" the services of Deadly Darren, we have Won 2, Drawn 3, Lost 4. Nothing special then, but it appears that our generally negative (being polite) perception probably lingers on from our early experiences as he took charge of 3 defeats out of 3 for us between 2005 and 2007. Those were a 3-4 home defeat to Southend in 2005/06, and a home defeat (1-3) to Bristol City and away (2-3) at Port Vale in 2006/07. Those with a better memory than mine (ie everybody), might recall some details of those games.

I think the big one most folk remember is when he sent Kovacs off for handball in that Southend game. It was an awful decision with it hitting Kovacs on the chest just inside the box after Eastwood, i think, whacked it at him from about 2yds away and the ref deemed it as stopping it going in i assume. We nearly won the game after Folan had a storming game after coming on, although didnt score, and we were 3-2 up with 10 men only to lose.

that Sarfend game was a shocker, they were flying at the top of the table at the time but we played really well and would have beaten them had it not been from a couple of atrocius refereeing decisions. Undoubtedly where he got his very poor reputation with us from

Thanks for that - I remember it now. As I recall, Kovacs had his arm tucked right across his body so there was no way it should have been given. I also think I'm right in saying that Janos never really got his place back after that suspension, which was a shame as he was a promising young player.

Not sure if its the same game but I remember going home after losing 1-3 to Bristol City and one of their goals was a blatant handball.

Poor ref.

I do have a little bit of respect for him though - The game Billy Sharp scored in just days after his son Louis died, he took his shirt off to celebrate and he had something on beneath along the lines of "R.I.P Louis" - Deadman refrained from booking him for the action. Common sense prevailed it seems

Found this, which is quite interesting as we head towards the Milwall game. -

In August 2009, Carlisle United made a complaint about Deadman after he allegedly shouted encouragement to a Millwall player during a League One match between the two teams. The complaint was later dropped.[1]

Agree with that - maybe he's improving with age.

He's a poor referee but not alone in that bracket. He's as likely to do something ludicrous in our favour as against us though so you never know, it could be our turn.

He reffed us at home either last season or the season before and he had an excellent game, it was mentioned on here.
