Was the game against Doncaster at home I think

Can't remember that being a poor game for reffing decisions so could be right

When I saw this thread I was praying you weren't going to say Deadman. No other ref makes me as anxious.

I came across it when I was taking a quick look at the Millwall message board - to them he's a lucky charm!

I sit above the tunnel and I gave him a piece of my mind, 'Oy, Deadman, keep your bluddy eyes open today' after he'd finished his warm up. He gave me a wry smile. I feel that victory was down to me.

If I'm not mistaken he was personally responsible for ruining our unbeaten record when we first moved grounds. He ludicrously sent Derek Niven off for a high tackle when the Burton player tackled with his foot even higher then rolled about on the ground.

He's a poor referee but not alone in that bracket. He's as likely to do something ludicrous in our favour as against us though so you never know, it could be our turn.
Cheer up boys Barnsley came away with the points the other week.

Thanks for that - I remember it now. As I recall, Kovacs had his arm tucked right across his body so there was no way it should have been given. I also think I'm right in saying that Janos never really got his place back after that suspension, which was a shame as he was a promising young player.

The decision marked a new low for the FA. Our apeal against Kovac's sending off was dismissed but the wretched referee was instructed "to undergo futher training". I'd forgotten the referee was DD, thinking it was another wise man, the inglorious Mr Mason!

Correct, he makes my blood boil every time I see him reffing in the Prem.

I think you're confusing him with someone else.

This thread following that game suggests he had another shocker

Had one of his better games, there's plenty of scope however.

Unnaturally for him he adopted a "keep the cards in the pocket" style of refin' a cynic however would say that with millwall playing an aggressive stile due to them not being able to match towns superior footballing ability it was likely that millwalls players would be greater candidates for disciplinary action and therefore with it being The Den, the keeping "the cards in the pocket approach" would make for a quieter life, but certainly not favouring CFC.

As the game progressed he did appear to award free kicks to millwall at every opportunity (some appeared totally wrong) but with a degree of reticence for us. In fact our first 2nd half free kick after Gboly had rode to very dodgy looking challenges and was clean through he brought play back to the angst of all the town players and gave a free kick on the halfway line. Hearts were firmly in the mouth when a millwall player went down like a "sack of spuds" looking for a pen, but no award of a pen and no caution for diving either.

So Mr Deadman your game has improved, I think you have learnt to be more subtle in the way you ref for an easy life 4 out of 10

I didn't have any qualms yesterday, in fact the penalty shouts they were yelling for, could easily have been given by a much weaker ref.

It's good to have a balanced view on an official. We had numerous pages of criticism against Deadman, and well justified. It is, however, only fair to acknowledge decent performances.
Without a balanced appraisal the negatives can become meaningless, a witchhunt.

The Football League Paper has given him 7 which I have to agree with - could maybe have booked a couple more of theirs but equally our players have to learn that until he blows for a free kick you cannot handle the ball if you think you have been Fowled !
Happened at least twice and while they may have been clear fowls - Always play to the whistle.

That's the first time he's ever presided over a Milwall defeat, so the law of averages DOES work ....... eventually ☺

Why do you consider it a balanced view. It's an opinion, which happens to differ from mine. It was only a "decent performance" because we expected much worse
