Only if there is a bidding war as any new contract would contain a release clause. Personally I'd offer him £50k signing on fee, plu the increase in wages etc

He needs to be paid as well as any player in the division is paid, and promised a %age of the get out fee when the time comes.

Brayford, is it? Beats me why any team would make a full-back their top earner, unless he was a really dominant force such as Brehme or Pearce in his prime.

Dont think for one minute he does not know how the fans appreciate him but a large percentage of fans loved Roberts Clucas Tendayi and Ryan If we match his ambition and what wages he wants he will stay if not he will go, signing a contract these days means little i.e Cook

I hope he stays, even if it's just for this season
We just seem to have stabilised again, it would be incredibly unfair on DS to pull the rug from under him for a fifth time

Have the rug pulled from beneath him or maximise the income from a player who could decide to leave for free in a few months time (can talk to clubs as soon as Jan)?
I would be delighted if Morsy would sign a new deal I just can't see any strong reasoning for him to do so. The only thing that would possible persuade him is a cut of any transfer profit and even then it's possible he could get more from a signing on fee from a club that has paid nothing for him.

Yeh, I think a few are in denial here and it will hurt them all the more when it happens. Hope I'm wrong of course.

'Pulling the rug' comment is more to do with team/squad stability for a new manager who's trying to stabilise the team after 4 key players have left. The economics of player departures are a different matter, and I wasn't really talking about that.
Like you, it's heart ruling head for me - I want him to stay. I'm not sure he will. He holds the cards, he can decide to stay here all year if he wants and leave for free next summer, getting a bumper contract elsewhere. We have no control over this situation, unless we're going to smash the wage structure (won't happen imo)
