'Pulling the rug' comment is more to do with team/squad stability for a new manager who's trying to stabilise the team after 4 key players have left. The economics of player departures are a different matter, and I wasn't really talking about that.

Like you, it's heart ruling head for me - I want him to stay. I'm not sure he will. He holds the cards, he can decide to stay here all year if he wants and leave for free next summer, getting a bumper contract elsewhere. We have no control over this situation, unless we're going to smash the wage structure (won't happen imo)

If that is indeed his intention it wont be as bad as we imagine.

We get him for the rest of the season, and to move up a league he HAS to play at the top of his game, and add goals. That can only help us in the short term. In fact, I would rather he leave for nowt and have a blinding season with us, than leave for a few hundred grand and weaken the squad.

Maybe we can achieve the top 6 VM/CPS predicted, and IMO we are more likely to do it with Sam in the side.
A new hope.

Agreed, he could play his way to a great move in the summer by having a storming season with us. We wont get a fee, just a place in L1 next year (or better?)
If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

nearly 2 full pages and no one has pointed out his name is Samy not Sammy

(unless Sammy is a nickname but nicknames are usually shorter than full names, surely?!)

Didn't you know that one of the rules of Bobs Board is that players names must be spelled wrongly at least 80% of the time.
How many regular posters on here insist on spelling his surname Morsey for example?

Parallels, my first fave town player was danny wilson, who watched birch n moss leave the 80/81 side then bonyman and others left, wilson a year later, yet wilson went onto have arguably the most succesful career of them all, times have changed in 35 years but could morsy staying with us for a season and being league ones stand out player benefit him in the long run? For me he is the best cm ive seen at cfc and would concur with the posters stating he is the difference in our side, really hope he stays, its going to be tough to keep him, but what is the replacement value? I dunno 3mill? Before you scoff, id say he's twice the player clucas was/is

If and it is a big if.......

He signed for two years - 2 million

Three years - 3 million

Rather than say 600/750k because he has only one season left I would rather have him here and let him go for nowt.

Be an insult 600k even if he would go for nothing.

Sod it, rather have a season of of him, Captain Fantastic, league One player of the year.

Goes to top end championship or a middle of the road Premier League Club (Stoke/Palace type )

The way he's started this season come the end of August that's a possibility if two clubs sense a deal. IMHO!

I love it when folk start throwing the figures in. Doyle was worth 5 million, Ryan a million plus Tendsyi 2 million we really shouldn't have any debt at all now. The only one nobody predicted big money for was Clucas.

As with all players the fee for Samy will be decided by how many clubs want him

There is one scenario that could possibly work for all and that would be if a club got him for a cut down fee but agreed to instantly loan him back for the rest of the season, but that would most likely only happen if he attracted a prem club or 2

I reckon the clubs that want him will be low end Champ clubs and are desperate for him to be in their team now

That's pretty much where I am Ernie, I can see us panicking again at the eleventh hour, ala Doyle, and accepting a solitary 6/700k, or two Championship sides having a mini bidding war pushing the fee to Clucas levels. Either way I'll be amazed if he's still our player come September.
The first scenario would be a disgrace, whereas the second option would be a difficult quandary for the club.

If he is it will be cos we have only had low bids.
Saunders says "we will have difficulty keeping hold of him, but we are trying". Not sure who he means by 'we', I think he meant to say 'I'. If a good offer comes along I reckon DA won't be trying too hard to keep him.

There is one thing for certain...he is worth more than what we got for Clucas. Consistently one of our best players for the past two seasons...only thing he was missing was his his goal scoring!..now he has it.

A goal scoring, box to box midfielder that hardly gives the ball away!! Priceless! He seems happy here, must not like Doyle who's head was turned straight away...Morsy seems to have his head screwed on & knows he's not a one season wonder & will wait for the right club to move to.
