Is there any sneaky way of getting on Bet365 from Spain? It says it's only available to Spanish residents. Wouldn't mind using the weekend's pot to liven up the midweek games.

Don't think you'll have any luck mate. A couple years ago I ended up phoning one of the bookies I use asking them to put me a bet on whilst I was in spain but I was told I couldn't do it as I was wanting to place the bet abroad, something to do with the licensing. I'd tried them online several times before phoning.

The bookmaker told me they would not just suspend my account if I somehow managed to place the bet but they'd terminate it. I'd be interested to hear about any loopholes however!

I've got one I placed before leaving that's 5/7 legs in, England to win the test match and Man Utd to beat Newcastle on Saturday the last two I think. Bit daft, I can get on Bet365.es but can't log on as I'm not Spanish. Weird as I've obviously got no tax implications here (Spanish winnings are taxed I understand).

You can't buy UK lottery tickets online when abroad either. It's gambling laws as opposed to tax laws

Type 'vpn' in on Google. Might mean more to the tech heads on here than it does me but it should bypass any obstacles apparently.

You can get on with more international sites, think I got on with 888 and B-Win online when in Ibiza. Not two sites you will have account with I assume though..

No. This is an entirely different issue.

The tax issue is unrelated as most bookies are based over in Gib, Malta and the like and direct all bets placed there to pay much lower taxes - the point of consumption bill the government are trying to pass will alter this greatly though as it will be the country the bet is placed in rather than where the bookie is based.

This law has rendered my thread regards moving to Guernsey a few months ago pretty useless now as the betting company I work for would no longer benefit for the tax savings they anticipated, thus keeping my job based in Leeds for now which I am pretty happy about (as lovely as Guernsey was when visiting to check out flats/offices etc)

Could be a while before it is passed but the government are certainly clamping down on bookies offshoring to pay lower taxes.

If its any consolation my treble of Barnsley, Fleetwood and Scunthorpe also failed dismally!

Betfair today on opening an account offer Arsenal at 5/1 to beat Liverpool and if you lose your money back to lay on another bet.

365 and Ladbrokes doing the same offer. Easy £50 on offer between the two. I'll probably gamble with one of them though.

For newbies I can't recommend this enough. I didn't really understand matched betting but it's more than paid for the subscription over the past 3 months. Better for people who don't have millions of online bookie accounts but still profitable for those that do (like me). http://tinyurl.com/oxe2yqr
