No great surprise , they've done it before , a few people who I've spoken to who don't have tickets aren't bothering to travel up to lens and are just staying down in Lyon and st Etienne.

Hopefully Rooney and Co. can do what the U21s have done tonight.

Win an u-20 invitational tournament? That'd be pretty impressive

Well, if they've been invited to play in the tournament, they've probably got a very good chance of winning it, so not sure why it would be very impressive. Surely, they would be expected to win?

Is dele Ali really becoming a major player in world football?
He's had a decent run but major player in world football is stretching it a bit, or is he he destined to become a gerrard for the new generation and end up being a decent player who is massively overhyped in this country

+1 as that made me scoff out loud. I couldn't help forward your post onto my mad (or is that sad) Liverpool supporting bro and who always thought the sun shone out of Gerrard's bottom... Can't wait for him to bite (and he will) as all Pool fans are mardy as hell and you can't criticize any of there players

Obviously flew over your head. Said senior team can't participate cause it's an u-21 tournament so would be impressive if they somehow managed to win it.

Nope, didn't go over my head. I thought that's what you said. Obviously, I did not mean they would win the U21, and meant hope they'd follow the U21s and win the tournament.

PS. You didn't say the senior team can't participate, you said it would be impressive if the senior team won the Invitational Tournement ? I get it now, you meant international? Anyway, let's move on....

we played very well BUT could not see off what looked like a rather poor Russian side. still think we will squeeze out of the group stage but will struggle against the better sides

Well usually we start off with a limp performance and a draw or a defeat, so a decent performance and a draw is better than most opening games I guess
