"What worries me is that he seems to come from the same modern day coaching school as our previous manager ie football by numbers/ transition/ possession etc. IMO totally wrong for the position and league that we are in."

"If he's still talking about finding the reason why we aren't winning then it suggests he didn't watch much of us before being appointed and that he hasn't got targets in mind for the window."

Sounds eerily familiar.

It sure does, lots more quotes on there along similar lines

Really? It seems to me they have either been in financial trouble, or league status trouble since the very early 80s.

On paper they “should” be a side that can maintain a Scottish premier league position, the ground holds over ten thousand, they have a decentish catchment area, but then so do Dundee and Ayr, and a heck of a lot of clubs north of the border have circa 10 capacities simply to accommodate games with the two ugly sisters.

I reckon you get your Scottish league info from the same source as your non league goal scorers info.

Stats most certainly do not tell the whole story AHSI

Partick have a good catchment area?

Immediately neighbours Rangers Celtic, I don't think so.
God I hate this league.

Exactly. Celtic have their areas, Rangers theirs, all intermixed, but Maryhill is smack in the populous west of the city and traditionally Partick the non-sectarian club.
These go to eleven.

Having spoke to several players ie Tommy Lee, Ian Evatt etc, guess who the players said was the best man manager the team had had? Gary Caldwell!!!! They all rated him as a man manager!

At the TestimoniALE launch Tommy said that Caldwell had insisted he play in a particular match as his presence was needed, despite Tommy saying he didn't think he could/should.

Whilst I got where Caldwell was coming from on Tommy's influence on the confidence of the back row, I won't tell you what I thought of him for making a player play through an injury that was bad enough to make him retire, you'll have to ban me from here if I type it!

The top team at the moment in the Scottish Championship is Ross County. They play in Dingwall whose entire population is almost 5,500.

Partick are traditionally a top division Scottish side. Their ground does have a bigger capacity than several current Prmeier sides.

Their squad is set up like a Premier squad not a Championship squad. And if Caldwell took them down they'd be playing several clubs who struggle to get 1,000 through the gates.

Death is simply quite right!

Against a team near the top Partick had 52% possession and 11 efforts at goal, and versus struggling Alloa they got 56% and 21 shots ..... yet still no goals. If you look at the squads Caldwell's rivals are carrying few look as though they should even give Partick a tight game ...... and as he doesn't really do recruitment this should be a job even Caldwell can do. Clearly his capacity to disappoint expectations is limitless.

Spent some time with an ex Town player in the week who said how bad Caldwell was - cold with players and disconnected with the people around the club completely.
Was very very disliked at Wigan by his fellow teammates.
He said a lot worse though about saunders.
Said when fully recovered from injury he wasn't allowed to train with first team as Saunders filled in for him in training and regularly told the players he was better than them 'at his age' etc.
Everyone hated him apparently!

I’ve only ever thought of Saunders as arrogant so that comes as no surprise. I am absolutely baffled as to why the media keeps paying him for his drivel.

Me too. He’s probably making nearly as much as when he was playing. I have to stop watching or listening to anything he appears on. He’s a complete fraud.

If he lied in the interview, saying he wasn’t backed, and the club did retract a statement to this end so clearly he did...........could they sack him without having to pay him off?

He's one of the 'in-crowd' though, isn't he.

One of those who repeatedly appear on, say, some 'Talksport' ex-pro love-in or 'Kammy' presented back-slapping session.

Y'know, where they swap quasi-amusing stories - even if they're totally made-up - or tell each other how tough they had it when relegating their last club and blame everyone but themselves.

And hey, who're we but dumb fans who know nowt about 'the game'...

Perhaps he wasn't on about financial backing. Would you work for the Chuckle Brothers?

Partick Thistle manager Gary Caldwell: "I'll fix it. I just said to the players I will fix it. But right now every week that goes by, another player gets ticked off the list that I don't think will be part of it.

"The three teams we've played wanted it more than we did, and that has to change."

he needs somebody to help with recruitment!

Question: if Caldwell thought Branston was a good idea at Town why not recruit him at Partick?

Unless he was imposed by someone else and all the 'Gary's choice' stuff was just another lie, of course.

PS: Caldwell blaming others? Well I never...
