Looks like a new signing for Nonce FC where the next wing he gets on will be over looking the exercise yard.

If Sunderland knew he was going to plead guilty should they have been playing this wrong 'un?

i think most associated with Sunderland were surprised by the guilty pleas. prior to now he's protested innocence at the charges so not sure where the guilty pleas have suddenly come from. I have a passing interest in Sunderland as it's the wife's team so kept an eye on things and the story seemed to be that allegedly it all happened in a nightclub and at no point was Johnson aware she was under 16 and the girl involved was crowing about it on social media which led to others reporting it then the charges.

I've no idea what has happened now so we'll what course the trial takes relating to what he's actually pleaded guilty to and the ones he's pleaded not guilty to.

The plea of guilty to a charge of grooming suggests you are right.

It would point to that wouldn't it? Presumably that's him admitting he knew exactly her age. Dunno where I read it (and of course it may be rubbish) but it was written that the victim was the sister of the babysitter they employed.

I'd like to think that's his career over but with football being as it is that's unlikely. Oldham are probably lining up a deal for his release from the big house.

The report on the Sky News app says Johnson has admitted knowing she was under 16.

I read The Secret Footballer site, and it was hinted very strongly several months ago on there that he was known to be bang to rights on this one.

Can't imagine she'd be at his side if he did 40 hours a week at Asda.

Interviewer:
Crouchy. What would you have been if you hadn't been a footballer?

Peter Crouch:
A virgin.

Crouch is a nice fella and as for Rooney, well he's had his alleged transgressions, but at least they weren't illegal and she appears to have forgiven him.

What self-respecting adult though could forgive a partner for grooming and sexual activity with a child?

Most, if not all wags, are in it for the money. Most footballers cheat, gamble, or, even rape in some cases; yet, dutifully, the wag is still by their side...

It's made mine. He's straight in my side alongside Graham Rix, Ched Evans and Marlon King.

Completely unfair on Colleen Rooney, she and Rooney are childhood sweethearts having grown up together. The few times I've seen them on TV documentaries etc they come across as a very grounded couple. Also I think Rooney is very fond of a severely disabled family member on Colleens side of the family and they provide support. Obviously they enjoy the trappings of fame and great wealth, but who wouldn't in their financial position?, and the transgression of Rooney with that prostitute many years ago was a stupid mistake whilst growing up.
Bloomin heck, have I just spoken up for Wayne Rooney?
