He did it when he came here, just not directly from his previous club!
Unless they take a big level jump/drop, managers will always go for players they know, that they can trust and that they know will do a job they want doing.
I can smell sour grapes.

Like the previous post says, it's not the players leaving that upsets some fans but the fact that the CLUB don't seem to be putting up a decent fight to keep them. I certainly hope Deano is going to get the necessary backing to sign decent replacements.

How do you make that out? We have rejected bids for at least two of our players this summer and had considerable interest in others from 'bigger' clubs but nobody has left. Hardly sounds like we aren't putting up a fight does it?

Let's not kid ourselves. We are on a cost cutting measure. The Saunders appointment, the imminent departure of our star player (when we don't have to do business full stop) the quick cash in on Doyle (when we didn't have to do business) , the failure to keep Ryan, the fact that we have offered Armand another year all spells to other clubs that we are open to business for anyone. It also must spread doubt amongst other players like Morsy and Darwika who are probably thinking 'why should I stick around when I could be off as well'?
It looks desperate, smells desperate, and quite frankly stinks.

And as yet no one has left other than the 2 players who were released.

Why don't you wake up and face reality? Our chairman has already explained that the new manager will have to bring kids on and will struggle (fail) to keep our best players. DS will NOT get financial backing, as the sole aim is to reduce costs and repay debt. Like it or not, that is the reality.

Missing the point big style. I have been watching town for 25 years and cannot recall a side who I enjoyed watching more. The feel good factor that has been around the club is very quickly disappearing because of the vibes that are coming from the club. We seem to be protecting an image that says 'little old chesterfield, who are we to compete with other clubs when they come calling?' When any of our playing/ coaching staff is approached. On top of that we seem incapable of getting any decent type of deal.
The Roberts deal if it goes through is a HUGE mistake, stick two fingers up, keep the side together and try and progress. Don't simply whore ourselves out to anyone who comes knocking.
Ps while I'm on a mini rant, another year for Armand?????? Is this the type of quality we can expect??

Good luck attracting new supporters with the mentality of 'next year is going to be crap, come and spend £25 at the proact watching a side which isn't as good as last years'

Precisely, and that is why there was a big effort to keep a lid on things until the 'early bird' deadline had passed.

I am not stupid I know we have to pay off the debts by selling players, but its what we will replace them with what concerns me. I don't like the thought of losing our main crowd puller being allowed to join the scouse *** without much of an effort to keep him. The loyal fans will stay with the club, even if we are struggling, but if we are struggling DA will be even more peed off when the gates fall even lower. Robbo is not only a match winner but also our number one entertainer in the mould of super Jack. I can't wait to see wgat sort of player Deano will bring in which will help me to feel more upbeat about our future prospects. I hate this time of year not knowing what to expect. I wish Deano all the very best in his time here, he has a hard act to follow.
