I know John Matthews and Brian Ferguson both sold theirs. I thought the club bought one? Perhaps this is one of theirs.

Sadly these honours seem to mean little to the players or staff that they were awarded to.

I'm sure if they belonged to us the supporters we'd keep them for our lifetime.

They are now appearing fairly regularly.

I was lucky enough a few years ago to spot an Anglo Scottish Cup Winners Tankard on ebay belonging to a former Chesterfield player.

Amazingly I was the only bidder and got it at the starting bid of £200.

Stuff like this makes seeing today's players scoring a goal and poncing about kissing the club badge even more gauling. Whether we want to believe it or not, these 'heroes' care very little for the club they represent. It's a job, whether they play at Chesterfield, Hartlepool, Colchester and so on, as long as they are getting the best deal possible, they don't care.

I fully understand it's a job, it just gets right under my skin when they are banging the chest and kissing the badge. Patronising behaviour of the highest order.

To be fair though it's the memories that count not the actual bit of metal.
Selling it wouldn't diminish the feat or the players memories.

Usain Bolt has given all his away for example

Ah right. So I would imagine the original holder sold for less, really, why?

Have you considered that certain players may have fallen on hard times?

I used to work with Mick Hoskins in the early to mid nineties, a far cry from winning the title with Town, still see him form time to time lives in Chesterfield I beleive

Of course , and I realise that to some folk money like that may be important, but you must really be on hard times to sell your history for such a small amount.

Could well be the case. I imagine these things aren't parted with without a good deal of thought.

There from an era that didn't earn the money that today's players earn so a couple of hundred quid could be a fortune to them,so could be sold out of necesatey
