Once again, the highlights are a horror show down our right, where Drew and Gboly are exposed at will; and at CH where Hird had a very poor day.
Nothing to do with them ghosting through midfield, easing past the static full back as if he wasn't there at all, it's all Sam Hirds fault. A very very strange assessment of the second goal yesterday that's for sure.

ha ha.
were it not for the fact that I'm a big Sam Hird fan.
This from the man who dismisses video evidence as an analytical tool. Very balanced.

not this time. Watch the highlights, which provide evidence of all the best Burton chances. Now admittedly they don't provide evidence of how Sam played when Burton weren't a danger, which you might like to mark him on, but hey ho.
Bonnyman is quite right. For the second goal Hird should have run on the diagonal to engage the scorer, forcing him either to beat him or to shoot from further out.
The first goal is quite simply caused by a Hird miss kick - a panicky duffed clearance.

They are the least problem. It's those in front of them. We had one midfield player yesterday - Morsy - and little or no contribution in this area from O'Neil (rehearsing for a film role as The Invisible Man?) O'Shea, Gardner and Ariyibi.

My defence includes my defensive midfielders. I got taught it at school. The first priority if you want to be a CM is to be able to defend.

Ah, I see, you are now including the defensive role of the midfield. Good to hear it's not just Sam Hird at fault then. Some argue that you defend from the front, in case you are planning to include further options. Gardner and Ariyibi have defensive responsibilities whether they like it or not.

What you have witnessed is a team lacking the nouse of Sam Hird. Falling that far back in disarray wasn't the manager's tactic, it was indiscipline. What concerns me is the Evo didn't take charge and bang a few heads together
Just to clarify again, I think Sam Hird is a good player, but not a top 6 L1 player.

I would agree, he is a very average L1 player. Without trawling the forum I still reckon you have been very critical of him for some time.

I always have. You, on the other hand, exclude the defensive role of our central defence.

have you watched the highlights?. If you have and you still feel he played well, then if I was being very rude, I'd say it's you that has the twisted view.

For the record the first goal was down to......Evatt's poor header from the keeper's kick, then being out of position, a poor header from Jones, a poor kick from Hird and a poor effort at keeping the shot out by Evatt.
