Seems ridiculous that seven days before start of season we haven't got some new players in.

Ok so sales have only just taken place but replacements will take time to gel and a bad start to the season will only make matters worse

Just cannot believe the continual ineptitude pervading our football club and no one is sending out any sort of clear unequivocal message. Certainly not the chairman who whilst happy to debts go down is going to preside over the football team doing the same!!!

We have five days to do some desperate business. I really do wonder if we have any replacements lined up or are we simply going to get more inexperienced players in who no one else wants?

We have until the end of August technically but it's getting harder with each passing day.

I dread to think of the atmosphere if we take only a point or so from the first 3 or 4 games.

If I start feeling sorry for Saunders then I know it's gone badly.

Fingers crossed that doesn't happen.

No no no no no....

They'll be dozens of players on £8000 p/w queuing up at our doors prepared to accept £2000 p/w when their trials conclude this weekend at championship clubs

IMO we have what we have. Nothing more nothing less. We have all been well conned. I really bought into the club moving forward thing. I will never be conned again I have lost faith in DA and his board of clowns

What he's allowed to do this week will dictate my feelings on that.

If he's not broken our transfer record and/or brought at least two (for starters) proper players on I'll assume his hands are tied.

Playing devil's advocate for a moment, he's won 5/6 first team pre-season games.

Assuming he's not been allowed to spend any cash (which manager wouldn't spend money that they are told they can?) what else can he have done in the time he's been here?

Forced DA's hand or resigned
Where the club is concerned I am disillusioned ad disheartened. Think I will take a step back. Why should I bother what happens to the club when those running the don't care. They don't deserve fans like us

Never been conned we could see what was developing when doyle was sold but never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that half the team would be sold before the season starts....a bit like Southampton did but they proved most wrong and had success but we aint got there resources or development and now sam morsy has most probably sold himself on.
One consolation is if your languishing towards the foot of the table the predators stay away.

Turners interview, upbeat as it was, clearly indicated the future. There was no talk of promotion or Championship football. That is now defunct marketing propaganda and has been consigned to the trash can. The new future, it seems, is to build a secure League One outfit that fits the business plan; lots of lucrative local derbies and relatively attractive opposition; just enough to keep the fans on their toes.

Paul Cook was too successful and it's hard not to believe that Turner and Allen breathed a huge sigh of relief when we were beaten by Preston as promotion would have fired a canonball through the business plan. As a kid, I poured scorn on those who said Chesterfield don't want promotion but I've seen enough now to believe it has a ring of truth and that Mr Allen is not the man who is going to deliver and break through that glass ceiling.

At the moment we are weak and it doesn't need a rocket scientist to believe Saunders had very few players, if any, lined up until a few days ago. The club also needs to realise a struggling team will also hit the business plan if attendances fall.

With the ST sales this season the proof of the pudding will be next season's gate income if we struggle.
