I'm down to 3 stone since June last year, haven't lost anything for the last 3 months but that is because I've had to stop exercise at the moment as I've got 2 discs gone in my neck so have constant pain and pins and needles in my arm. Got to have an operation to fuse the 2 vertebrae soon. But the good thing is that I've not put anything back on, even without exercising. Gone from a size 22/24 to a 16 bottom and 16/18 top.

Who told you to stop exercise?
Adapt- stopping exercise is never advice which should be given by anyone in medical field.

Absolutely fabulous! Well done, Marcia, that must feel good.

Sorry to hear about your neck; been there with my lower back. Hope the op goes well. 👍

No one told me to stop exercising, however pain in neck and shoulder that is not touched by tramadol means there is not a lot I can do upper body wise, added to the already operated on lower back that again tramadol barely takes the edge off oh and the almost constant sciatica means I can only use a reclining bike, of which at my gym there is only 1 and usually a queue to use it, means I would rather not pay the gym membership when I am only using 1 piece of equipment. I am doing some at home, mainly planking to try and strengthen my back and core and squats.

Already had a discectomy for l4/5 7 years ago, got degenerative disc disease and had sciatica on and off since I was 11, so pretty much 30 years. Was told by my gp for 10 years that it was just growing pains

Ok cool.
Be very careful with both plank and squats re. Your back.
Hopefully you've been shown good technique squatting- look up goblet squats for safest.
Also avoid plank to failure- rather do say manageable reps.

Consider 'cycling' with ankle weights or resistance bands lying supine
