Just read on Sky Sports that Derry City's Stephen Dooley is available on a free transfer in January and is attracting interest from Accrington Stanley & Chesterfield (&Partick Thistle). He's apparently a goal-scoring midfielder!

Because all players we sign for free are rubbish

Lester
Davies
Roberts
Evatt
etc

I really don't care if we pay for players or not so long as they're good.

And the 'midfielder' bit, do we sign players in any other positions? 😀
If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

A lack of transfer fee for these four more than made up for by a tasty weekly wage...

It's very rare that I would defend Azul but where does it state (or even imply) that "free transfers" are a bad signing?
Life goes on. Whatever happens.

My original thought too Phil, but this guy started as a winger, and sounds an excellent prospect; not seen any footage of him, but by all accounts he's a very fit young lad of 23, studied Sports Science in the States, has a great engine, and this season a frequent `man-of-the-match' in the Irish Prem, described as `extremely consistent'. Not trying to presume or pre-guess anybody but he may be viewed as a possible replacement for someone in the January transfer window :o
