Shaw is so obviously a player, he will be Ashley Cole levels. I can't see how ppl can say he's done nothing when he had a great season for Southampton last year. Once he gets into his stride we'll (as in us England fans) be laughing.

Agree, cracking season last year - just getting back to fitness for United, had 2 or 3 good games recently and played well for England.

The lad is about 19, he will be far better than Baines and Gibbs.

Bertrand will be in the squad soon also if Southampton remain in the top 6 - he has been excellent this season too.

He may be a "thick prick" but what a player-he has been in the form of his life recently and is a born captain and leader.

Totally agree - I don't know what they want , 6 goals in 6 matches and 4 away from being England's all time leading scorer.!

Azul are you scottish? If not youre making a brilliant effort at trying to be.

No, I'm British

You don't have to be Scottish to dislike the national anthem/royal family or point out inconsistencies in claims that the England v Scotland game means nothing

(actually my parents are Scottish but I was born in England and have never been to Scotland other than for work reasons)

I am ambivalent towards both the national teams and have no great regard for their supporters.

Can't say fairer than that, can I?

Getting past all the hype and hostility that was a group of Premier League players comfortably overcoming a group of (mostly) Championship players.

The Scots have achieved some creditable results recently, but it was them that seemed overawed by the occasion.

And what happened to the much vaunted 'Tartan Army', the self appointed best fans in the World?

After booing God Save The Queen and hurling tirades of abuse at anyone in a white shirt they went from subdued to virtually silent.

Then many of them were on their way home by the time their team scored a consolation goal.

Good performance England - terrific to see them play with Premier League tempo and pace for a change - meanwhile it's another chip added to the Scots' shoulders.

Was at the game (and saw the usual Spireites also in attendance) and aside from Flower of Scotland at the start the locals were virtually silent. Had a great time up in Glasgow and enjoyed the banter with the Scottish fans before the game (treated fine and bought many drinks by the locals).

The Scottish team just seemed devoid of ideas and certainly didn't live up to the expectations their recent form had created.
