The board realising it wouldnt blow over, and it would cost them more than the player would be worth, and not just financially.

The club said reaction to their initial decision "has been at an intensity that could not have been anticipated".
Its taken them months to realise they were going to get highly criticised, and the criticism started as soon as Evans was released, I think they just hoped it would all blow over.
Can anyone actually see Evans getting another club in this country?

He's toxic. If a club our size employed him and lost a few hundred off the gate and a load of sponsors it would be disasterous.
He doesn't have a chance of playing for a smaller club and not sure he's Championship level either.

What a clown. What he's actually saying then is that he is angry that the general footballing public are not accepting of their decision to employ a convicted rapist so they feel FORCED to get rid of him. He's not got the benefit now of a very good League 1 striker but still the public can see that Sheffield Utd are effectively supporting the convicted rapist and being hounded into letting him go. Support the rapist but don't get the benefit of his abilities. Talk about a lose lose situation to put yourself in.

I think hes annoyed to have potentially Lost the services of a quality striker.....thinking that he will now move to another club and play there...maybe even a rival.....what he doesn't seem to grasp is that wherever evans goes he will meet opposition to it....and that will be louder than those for him.
He's finished as a footballer in this country imo
