............and still we slumber as our British identity continues to erode. This applies from next year. Thank you Mr Major.

It's not so much the sleeping, it's the waking up and the recognition your national identity and sovereignty has been removed. Thank goodness there are people out there who actually care.

to be honest it means little to me .

just got back from lanzarote , there while the world cup was on , loads of different nationalities , everyone supporting their own team / country with great fervor but no hostility at all .

british , german , french , dutch , spanish , all part of the eu but still individuals and comfortable supporting their countries without getting paranoid about national identity and sovereignity .

we can look at various parts of the world where conflict is caused and fueled by the things you want and the misery caused .

i think i can survive the eu with all it's faults .

Yes I'd worked that out.

The only part of your reply I understood was the first sentence so I replied to that. At your invitation, I'll try and work out the rest.

You seem to be saying, because you had a good time watching football in Europe and witnessed the joys of the occasion that this is the raison d'etre for political union. Sorry, but can't work that one out. The days when the worlds' problems are solved by football will never happen.

You then claim that misery around the world is a consequence of, 'things I want.' This is presumptous. You can't possibly know what I want for the world. I think therefore, because you failed to say it, you're alluding to the debate between nation and federal states although I suspect I'm being generous.

How did I do?

No mate, I was spot on. I correctly pointed out the shallowness of your reasons for political union. Not 'crap' but the ability to recognise a viewpoint with little depth. I love Europe, by the way, nothing better than a Tuscan holiday.

firstly i am not your mate ,

secondly , regarding the shallowness of my reasons for political union , i never gave any reasons for or views on political union , i just said that the form you posted wouldn't give me any sleepless nights .

you show no depth ,just your explanation of your view which i do not have to agree with .

dont take it so f**king seriously , it's not the end of the world is is ?

the end of the world wont come from closer political union in the eu i dont think , more nationalism as in ukraine / russia , more likely ?

so no you wern't spot on , i am afraid i disgree with you , is that a crime too ?

Your response to the form was arrogant and sarcastic. You meant it to be a put down. When I said I also thought you didn't find it important - a truthful and innocuous remark, that should have been the end of the matter but you took offence. You implied I was a bit slow in not understanding the rest of what you'd said. I politely ignored the smear and corrected your mistake and said I had understood.

Oh, and please don't make the mistake in thinking I refered to you as 'mate' in any other than colloquial terms. I guarantee it won't happen again.
