You say we asked Robbo to tear up his current deal and commit to lower wages for this and 2 more years?.

Don't believe it.

Asking someone to do that knowing it won't happen with whats on offer elsewhere sounds like spining it for the fans benefit.

Mmmm, I'll wait for something concrete to happen before believing anything our board tell us cause right now I've no faith in them to back Saunders enough to get replacements capable of filling the voids. Every club in the country tells its fans the manager is looking at great players to strengthen the squad, getting them is another matter entirely, especially when our best players are leaving.
If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything!

He may well set his sights on some very good players, who's agents will promptly laugh at the pittance we will no doubt be offering and say 'thanks but no thanks'

But he can sign for somebody else for 2 years at the end of this next season, and get a signing on fee. Unless he's dozy enough to think that he won't get a 2 year contract then, no sums add up.
Still don't believe it.

Perhaps it was offered to him, knowing full well Cook would come calling, sending a signal to the player, "cooks offer is one you won't get anywhere else"
A new hope.

He was never going to accept it but I was told by someone in the know that this is what was offered to him.

bless

you'll gain a sense of perspective by the time you buy your thirtieth season ticket

losing players isn't a big thing it has always happened, always will. I get far more upset at losing matches!

I imagine that we have had players lined up for a while but had to wait and see if Jimmy and Gary were staying before signing them up. Things should start moving anytime now.

Onwards and upwards

Dare i say there are even better players out there than Roberts/Ryan - so there may be even more talent arriving

You're absolutely right there - Messi, Ronaldo etc, loads of them. I can't wait till they sign for us.

the usual doom and gloom merchants v the realists on here!

No point bleating on about ryan and roberts now, they have gone. They want to play for someone else so time to move on and look to the future.

Im not happy at losing two good players like the rest of us , but i am looking forward to who DS brings in. We need a couple of signings soon to lighten the mood and i am sure we wil lget that.

It could just as easily be the cold hard nosed realists v blind optimism
A new hope.
