"The squad needed freshening up" hahaha. Okay mate. How much are the club paying you to just outright lie?

Some people just won't accept criticism of the club and will defend it against criticism regardless of how valid the point being made is.

Although the squad did need additional forward players.

Gboly and Gardner as our flying wingers anyone?
A new hope.

Definitely needed better attackers and the odd signing here and there, for sure. However it was the best squad we've had for years, surely? It didn't need "freshening up" if the definition of that is losing two of our best players from last season. Only the deluded Beelzebub/Xerxes (who seem like the exact same person, tbh) could come up with such spin. I'd ask for credit for predicting it but it was so obvious that it would feel like empty praise.

The squad did need freshening up if Saunders is going to change the to a "direct" style of play

I don't see "direct" as being the default style, but I do expect us to be better at it when we need to switch to it :)

Why not? That's what fans of the clubs he's previously managed have said.

Of course we accept the constant whingeing of posters against cfc, it's life - just because others take a more pragmatic view doesn't mean we are defending the club.

DS knows that the style of football played here last season is popular with the fans. He said what we wanted to hear, the gist of it being about keeping the team together and freshening up the strikeforce. Since then he has added a striker, which was needed, and he has retained Drew, which was good, but it now appears that we have (unnecessarily imo) lost 2 key players from the system that was popular. He hasn't said we will be "going direct" and has suggested we will retain a passing game while getting the ball to the forwards quicker. We will find out exactly how that works in due course.

Most of Saunders previous league clubs have been fighting relegation. He wasn't going to take over at Wolves or Crawley and start trying to play flowing football. Avoiding relegation is about not getting beat. You're always more direct when you're fighting relegation.

Donny were playing decent stuff when he left them. Nobody in the conference plays fast flowing league 1 style football.

Folk on here are sharpening their pitch forks ready for him to fail.

We all know we don't have much chance of keeping players who want to leave. If Roberts and Ryan want more than we can afford then that's that. Sounds to me like the club pulled out the stops to keep Ryan and significantly improved the offer only for Fleetwood to offer silly money.

We'd be mad to offer Roberts the same terms as Pompey.

We offered Roberts a new deal on much lower wages than he currently gets for 3 years

I think you'll find Doncaster deviated from their style while he was there although many thought he was a good manager

You say we asked Robbo to tear up his current deal and commit to lower wages for this and 2 more years?.

Don't believe it.
