a 4-year deal is a superb result for Footitt, at his age and with his previous injury record. Leaves us looking terribly weak of course.

Carter is a good signing. This was inevitable sadly. I've no time for Surrey at all.

He better be good because the rest of our fast bowlers are toothless

Both Taylor and Cotton are promising, Taylor especially but last season tailed off alarmingly. Injury issues? Tony Palladino doesn't give many runs away but seems to have lost the knack of taking wickets at the rate he was 2/3 years ago.

I watched a lot of Taylor and Cotton last season and they appear to be going backwards at a rate akin to CFC. Never looked like taking a wickets. Our strike bowler flogged to death, no wonder he wanted away, probably not all about money, similarities to him and Morsy, striking

Milne, why?
Tony Palladino, is he finished?
Cork, incredibly raw

It is grim

Taylor been picked on one of the England pace performance camps over the winter so someone outside of Derbyshire seems to rate him.

I agree about why have we signed Milne. Very similar to Alex Hughes Taylor and Davis in pace and ability to bat imo and these are bowlers that have come through

our academy and cant always play in a balanced team

Milne has come from Warwicks where he worked with Welch so I suppose he must see something in him to benefit Derbyshire

The signing of Carter showed I think that the management already knew Footitt was moving to pastures new

I think most folk knew he was off and it was just a case of when. They had to fight to get him to sign a new contract last time around and i suspect his time Surrey are offering a substantial pay rise let alone the 4 year deal when he is about to turn 30! Was interesting to note that we've received compensation from Surrey so not sure how much that amounts to and if it will let us get someone with a better pedigree in.

Our bowling attack is frightening without Footitt

Lets hope Carter's reputation is justified and he's capable of improving it

I've not seen Milne play but his stats suggest he has something.
