I beg to differ. Took my lad to his first game vs Torquay in the cup in the relegation season the other year. We played crap, lost 2-0 and he couldn't wait to go back again. Maybe he's an exception though.
Here we go again!

Are there really season ticket holders so tight that they begrudge the club trying to promote interest by doing cheap offers?
Once your ST is bought and paid for the money's gone - the only interest you should have then is in the club doing its best to fill the ground, create an atmosphere and encourage the next generation of fans. What's to dislike?

Good post and I agree in principle.

However, these promotions need to add value in short, medium & long term. My major concern is that they might weaken matchday revenue in the short term, something which we can ill afford at the minute. Like you, these promotions don't bother me personally because there's a much bigger picture, but people will look to try and abuse the system, that's just sadly how it is.

There's no use getting kids to attend their first game and having no follow up to ensure repeat visits. The Trust / Club need to devise a programme that increases the chance of kids returning for a 2nd, 3rd & 4th game and hopefully, purchasing a ST in the long term. Kids don't get hooked from one match, there needs to be a subsidised scheme that kids/families/parents can sign up to.

Do you think trying to tie in an ST offer with the schools thing is worth a try?

If it worked out at £1 a game for all kids, along with a full price adult ST, do you think it would entice more of these kids who only come on the schools promotion days to buy one, or rather, them and a parent buy one?

Is the level of interest there?

A new hope.

It's been mentioned that CFC are a bit wary of cheap offers because of the reaction from season ticket holders. I assume from that somebody has kicked up about it in the past.
There'll always be a member of the awkward squad who thinks he's been done I suppose, but I wouldn't like the club to be basing its strategy on the grumbling of pillocks. Get the ground full, and sod the moaners.

I've no objection to it. Bigger crowd better atmosphere more enjoyable match experience.
Catch em young. Go for it.

I'd endorse all the above.

Better to have several hundred in at a discount - whilst still making cash at the kiosks - than empty seats.

Hopefully there'll be discussions on whatever social media platform there is in twenty years along the lines of 'Yeah, my first game was a three nil win over Fleetwood back in the mid twenty-teens. My dad was chuffed 'cos it only cost him a tenner or summat - but I loved it so much I pestered and pestered him to take me some more. It's cost him and me a hell of a lot since!'.

True DIFh. So could someone from the club (AC) expand on why more kids offers are not available? Strike while the iron is hot. Get the young 'uns now, I and many more with expiring town watching time may not see the benefits but will be happy to see the potential being targeted.
I can only see devaluing season tickets as a reason, well you,ve had a (albeit small sample ) concensus would it be difficult to email season ticket holders to get a clearer picture?

Maybe kids could be free with a paying adult , including season ticket holders .

That'll never work because of the lack of spare seats next to a lot of season ticket seats.

I get my season ticket to be sure of my seat, rather than the saving. Don't care what promotions they run (not in a negative way, anyway, I'm all for kids getting in cheap...)

Steady on with those marketing skills Michael. There is also the facebook option but get ready for a wealth of immature replies.

A good summary of the Trust's Ticket Promotions:

Source - http://www.spireites...ch-ticket-deal/

Spireites Trust Delivers Another Great Match Ticket Deal

March 11, 2015

Saturday 28th February saw the second successful Match Ticket Deal in a month. For a handful of matches during the season Chesterfield FC Community Trust works with local schools and sports clubs to bring new fans into the stadium to get a taste of league football. The ticket deal is aimed at families who have never been to watch Chesterfield FC before or who don’t attend matches regularly. All children attending selected schools or who are members of selected clubs received a form which allowed 4 children to attend the match free of charge accompanied by at least one paying adult at a discounted rate of £10 per person. All special tickets were located within Blocks 1 and 2 of the Spencer’s Community Solicitors (East) Stand.

The Fleetwood Town match was the 3rd successful ticket deal of the season following on from the Yeovil Town and Leyton Orient games. Below is a breakdown of the figures per match:

Yeovil (1st November 2014)
702 tickets distributed by the Community Trust
38% were attending their first Chesterfield FC fixture
Total home fan attendance: 6,274

Leyton Orient (14th Februrary 2015)
703 tickets distributed
30% were attending their first Chesterfield FC fixture
Total home fan attendance: 6,239

Fleetwood Town (28th February 2015)
861 tickets distributed
88% reported that they would not have attended the match if they hadn’t been offered the ticket deal.
Total home fan attendance: 6,835

In terms of overall home fan attendances up to now the Fleetwood match is 3rd behind the Sheffield Utd local derby and the Boxing Day fixture against Peterborough! Yeovil and Leyton Orient are 4th and 5th in the attendance rank respectively.

Blocks E1&2 were jam-packed at the Fleetwood Game

The Community Trust enjoys some great community partnerships and the success of the Match Ticket Deal scheme is testament to this. It is fantastic that the Club and the Trust are able to offer special deals to the community as it allows us to attract new people along to the stadium, creating more interest in Chesterfield FC and football in general. The Club is now working on a special 4-match ticket deal to encourage people to attend more regularly.

We would like to offer a big thanks to all of the schools, clubs and individuals that participated in the ticket deals and we hope that everyone enjoyed themselves….whatever the result was……

to the best of my knowledge, Bolsover infant and nursery school, bolsover c of e junior school and the Bolsover School have not had a school offer for at least the last 4 years. It seems a bit strange that at least the c of e school hasn't had an offer especially as they have CFC football coaching after school.
As it happens we started going because of a school offer 7 years ago and have been season ticket holders for 5 years now....

I hope the powers that be are reading this post

Well this thread has still not produced a satisfactory answer to the OP's original question - why are there not more offers? There are, on average, about 3000 empty seats at most of our games - what a wasted opportunity. I know we're not talking of full - price payers, but there is substantial extra income going begging, especially if you think long-term. WHY DON'T WE MAKE MORE EFFORT TO FILL THOSE SEATS?

Agree, theres plenty of home games where everyone knows there will be a few thou empty seats, the club should do it for all these games and get round as many schools as possible

The position we now find ourselves in with the playing side being at its most attractive it has been in generations, surely we have to capitalize on this and use every means possible to build the fan base for years to come.

I do find it a tad disappointing that there hasn't been a response to why there are not more kids offers. What's to loose?
