my take is all football should be suspended NOW for a few weeks, lets face it the EUROS are not going to happen so the leagues can be finished may, june, even into july if need be.

But in a few weeks the demand to suspend all games will be greater. There are issues relating to players availability (they are contractually due annual leave in May to July) availability of stadiums etc.

I think get as many games played before the virus properly hits us and lock down is essential, the government figure of up to 10,000 may currently have the virus is still only 1 in 6,000.

I can see all the current fixtures for all leagues being cancelled or suspended indefinitely at some point.... no point shutting down now for a few weeks and starting up again nearer the peak of the virus in May/June/July.

All EFL games in championship, league 1 and 2 called off until April 3rd. surely NL should follow suit?

By that time the epidemic will be at its peak so my money is on a further suspension.

If the leagues do get suspended and the season extended how will that then affect teams with players that may be out of contract by the time the season continues?
Why can't you support my gibberish? I'd do it if you were stupid.

I doubt anyone knows the answer to these sorts of questions as the situation is unparalleled really. I suspect its the kind of thing that will be dealt with in due course once folk know where we are.

Pretty much a no brainer to be honest seeing as the Prem and EFL have already done it. Suspect its just a case of how far down the pyramid you get before they dont bother with suspending games.

Agree I can't see them not following suit, although it's crazy to say suspend until 3rd April when the situation will be far worse, it's effectively season over

short of announcing now that the season is over they had to put some date on it. april 3 they'll not doubt reassess & make another decision, either a delay or a suspension.

Wonder how promotion and relegation would be affected if season isn't completed. As you were before season started?

Key points from announcement, we are no longer considered "elite" 😂

I would scrap the whole season so I can spend all summer laughing at Sheff Yoo and Liverpool....and we would be safe

Rumours mentioned the league would be null and void, no promotion and relegation. If the league is finished now then teams would take it to court based on incomplete fixture list and the ability to not get promoted and teams to be relegated when the fixtures not complete. The rules state the season starts on the date the first league game and finishes on the date the last league game.
