Aimed at older, more laid back and less, well, grumpy Town fans, particularly those who live away from Chesterfield. Not intended as a rival to Bob's Board despite its cheeky address:

https://bubsboard.freeforums.net/

Drop in any time.

I'll sit back for a week or so to see it it turns into another political ranting forum. If not, I'll definitely consider registering.

This one only lets me post on my phone and most of the features are no longer supported anyway.

Good idea 👍

You seem malcontented on this one so why not register to get it off the ground and then help shape the debate to your preference. If it turns out not to your expectations then you can just not post or ignore it completely

It's a forum that works properly. If folk move over, in time it will be more than a rival.

Funnily enough it’s some of the older ones on here that are the least laid back and most grumpy so all the best with that.

With old age comes grumpiness and wisdom. If you are lucky you will get both one day ;)

Political ranting will be firmly discouraged, Quaker.

Good luck with that. Politics is literally about life and everything within it, which includes football and Chesterfield FC.

...but it's fair to say the standard of debate involving polemicists on football forums is pretty low. In my experience, wearing your political colours on a forum is an invitation to trolls and bullies to misquote what you say and attribute opinions to you that you don't have. The consequence is that people quickly resort to abuse and the whole thing becomes ever more toxic.

Party politics can be discussed any time, anywhere, but, in my opinion, a football message board is not the place. Philosophical rambling is fine; political ranting is not.

Nobody will ask what your politics are on the forum, but you can take it as read that racists and other troublemakers will be given short shrift.

There may be some technical issues but as a debating forum, Bob’s Board ain’t broke so doesn’t need fixing, in my view.
These go to eleven.

The only political stuff on here happens when politics meets football.

Such as the thread covering our friend in Ukraine.

Much more over on the 'Personal' section, but to paraphrase apologists and sycophants back in Saltergate days 'I y'don't like it, then don't go'...
Spanish proverb: 'Pessimists are just well informed optimists'
